The greenway will feature over 19 miles of trails and land connectors, from Toby Creek Greenway on North Tryon Street to Cordelia Park just north of uptown. The greenway will continue through the urban section and on to the South Carolina state line, conveniently linking Central Piedmont Community College, Carolina Healthcare System and the Park Road and Carolina Place shopping areas among many other destinations.

A space for quiet reflection or a social hot spot, the greenway will be built with the diversity that has Charlotte/Mecklenburg in mind. The walker, jogger, tourist, nature lover, bench sitter or cyclist will delight in this path that connects us all. Urban Little Sugar Creek also includes a major stream restoration project to enhance water quality.

    Carolina Thread Trail

The Little Sugar Creek Greenway, part of the Carolina Thread Trail, runs along eastern Charlotte and will one day stretch more than 15 miles down to the Catawba River in neighboring South Carolina. As of 2012, the trail offers four completed sections:
    ■Cordelia Park to 12th Street (0.95 miles)
■E. 7th Street to Morehead Street (1.29 miles)
■Morehead Street to Brandywine Road (2.88 miles)
    ■Huntingtowne Farms Park (0.79 miles)
The trail is a beautiful urban gem, connecting several parks, schools, recreational facilities, shopping and dining areas, gardens, and public art

    Nature Facts:
Watch for olive-brown “pancakes” floating in the water at the edge of slow-moving, sandy areas of the stream. Take a closer look and you’ll find the “pancakes” have legs and a long neck with a snorkel nose at the top. These round, floating objects are actually Gulf Coast spiny softshell turtles, a species of special concern in North Carolina. These turtles have a soft, flat shell and can quickly disappear by burying in the sand. Please observe these special creatures from a distance because they can and will bite!

This is a great location for running a path. There will be lots of people running, walking, and biking on the weekend. There are also great locations to eat around the area and even a farmers market close by!
Might be fun just to pick a place to have lunch on the trail. What do you think of that?

    February 27, 2013

  • Sharon D.

There will be places near the trails we can eat. I will check out a few places to eat and post it.
If anyone have suggestion let us know.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
