The Lodge at Jonas Ridge Snow Tubing
http://www.jonasridgesnowtube.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=12&Itemid=7

Number #1 snow tubing slope in the high country and attract visitors
from Florida, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina and more. We have upgraded our
slope to make it easier to get to the top with a conveyor belt or "Magic
Carpet" as some might call it. This ensures a safe ride to the top and
more energy to have fun during your two hour session.

At Jonas Ridge Snow Tubing, jump on a specially made inner tube for an exhilarating ride, hop on the conveyor belt
to the top and do it again…and again and again! Snow tubing in North Carolina
can be an exciting winter activity for you and the whole family.

And remember they have snow guns. Even if it looks like no snow where you are,
chances are, we have it here in the cold mountain air! Nighttime, no worry, we
have lights for night tubing.

The Lodge at Jonas Ridge snow tubing is where you pay and receive your slope ticket for your 2hr snow tube session. This ticket will have an end time of your session written on it. Take the ticket and attach it to your jacket, because non-ticketed persons are not allowed past the fence on the slope.

There are many places to sit down and relax by the warmth of an old fashioned fire place while taking a break from the cold winter air. We offer a variety of cold drinks such as soda, Gatorade, yoo hoo chocolate milk and more. You can purchase hot apple cider, coffee, or hot chocolate to warm up your insides while sitting inside at the lodge. We serve nachos and have many types of candy, chips and other snacks for the kids.

How to get started,
To get started on your tubing adventure here is what you need to do. When you leave the main building go down stairs to pick out your inner tube underneath the porch. Grab your tube by its lanyard, and drag it to the entry line of the conveyor belt next to the tube lanes. Please wait your turn, there is no passing anyone while on the conveyor belt. Step onto the conveyor belt with your tube behind you, please do not sit inside the tube. The conveyor will take you up the slope. Once to the top please step to the right after the first sign and off the conveyor. Proceed to the 6 snow tube lanes to choose from; do not push and be courteous to others. Each is groomed a little differently so some may be faster than others. There is only one rider per tube.

After choosing your lane, place your lanyard inside the tube, then check to make sure your lane is clear of all other riders all the way to the bottom before you start your ride down. There are two ways to ride the inner tube. The first is to sit down in the tube, the second is to lie on your stomach. If you are tubing with a small child make sure he/she is sitting all the way in the tube.

You can also slide down the slope with more than one person to make a chain. The limit is 4 people at one time can ride down the lane together. Chaining will only be allowed if the group holds onto the handle on the side of the tube; and must hold on to these handles all the way to the bottom. If we are really crowded or the conditions aren’t perfect we may not allow chaining on some days.

All children ages 6 or under must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the entire 2-hour session when on the snow tubing lanes. There will be no exceptions and this is for safety reasons.

The most important rule on the slope is the next one. After you have an exciting and safe ride, when you reach the bottom and your tube is stopped, stand up and be sure you look up the hill for other people that may be coming down other lanes before you safely begin moving out of your lane. The three lanes on the left will get up and exit the snow tube lanes to your left and walk behind the net, the three lanes on your right will move to your right to exit the snow tube lane area.

It was so much fun. Would do it again. Great place, was able to go down several times within the two (2) hours time frame. The lunch place (Mason Jar?) was also a really unique place to eat at. Food was great. I truly enjoyed the day.

I would love to carpool with someone. I live near Northlake and would love to catch a ride. My car isn't in the best shape, so if I can ride with anyone, I will be happy to pitch in for gas. :-)

Wear a hat to keep your head warm. Half of the body's heat is lost through the head. Find the warmest hat possible. A balaclava or a toboggan helps keep the heat inside the head so you can keep your mind on the tubing and not on how cold you are.
Wear wool or synthetic materials rather than cotton clothing. The cotton tends to capture the moisture from sweating, rain, or snow and doesn't dry out. There are several synthetics and wools on the market that dry quickly, leaving you with less dampness in your clothing that can ruin your day.

Put on a waterproof outside shell. Bibs or rain pants. . Shop around and find a pair that are not too big and bulky. The layering will come in handy, so you can go for a thin waterproof shell over a pair of pants if you tend to be on the warmer side. Dress in layers.
Wear waterproof gloves that fit your hands. Don't buy gloves that are too tight or are so big that all the snow falls down into them when you go bump.
