Chinatown Dragon Fest 2013

With the all-weekend closure of sections of 520 and 405, traveling between Seattle and the East Side won't be fun. So if you're on the Seattle side looking for something to do Saturday, come join us in the International District!

There's a $2 food walk with prizes(!), performances, and even a dance party after 8pm on Saturday!

Let's meet at Hing Hay Park (hopefully it won't be too crowded) at noon on the Saturday of the event (7/13). From there, we can decide to do the food walk or watch performances (or both!). I'll be the lady with the short blonde hair (kind of like my Meetup photo). I'll send out my number for latecomers as well. Bring cash if you want to do the food walk! Admission in general is FREE.

If you'd rather go Sunday, I may be going and can join you as well, but Saturday seems to be more packed with events.

Hope to see you there!

From the official event/ID website:
2013 Dragon Fest — back this summer with vibrant Lion and Dragon dances, rhythmical Japanese taiko drumming, Chinese martial arts demonstrations, Asian drill team, Korean Dancing, Indian dance performances, and much more!

Centered in the heart of Seattle’s historic Chinatown-International District, the Festival attracts more than 30,000 people over two days and features a line-up of over 30 cultural performances.

Bounded by the iconic Chinese Gate and beautiful Hing Hay Park, this Seafair Festival brings the streets to life with historic walking tours, a large-scale outdoor Asian market and cultural activities for people of all ages. This year the Festival will continue to host a Food Walk as well as a Happy Hour event with many of Chinatown-ID’s 85 restaurants offering up a variety of discounted tastes to give visitors the chance to sample cuisines from around the world.

Hey! I'm waiting at the corner of King and Maynard. I'm wearing a long red skirt. Should be pretty easy to find me :)
