10 Digital Ladies in Non-Profit & Public Sectors

  • Sep 11, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This will be a special Digital Ladies event targeted at women working in the 'Making a Difference' digital sectors such as not-for-profit/charities, health, education and the public sector. These sectors have specific challenges that we'd like to discuss and encourage networking in to share learnings and develop networks.

For example charities have interesting challenges around fundraising and use of social media to grow awareness.

Health is a really interesting area of opportunity, especially with greater movement towards patients having access to digital medial records, and the growth of the 'quantified self' in terms of tracking health data using wearable tech or phones.

Jo Wickremasinghe, Head of Product at Which? will kindly be doing an initial scene setter talk on the non-profit sector and its specific digital challenges. She also used to work on the product team at the BBC so has great experience in this area.

As several attendees so far are also interested in digital health, Tracey McNeill from 'doctor in your pocket' Babylon app will also be speaking about their app development.  I've also tried to spark some debate about this subject ahead of our meet on the digital network here:

So come along if you work for digital comms, marketing, product in or around charities, NHS Trusts, Universities/ Educational establishments, Police, Local Government, or are launching an app/product in this space.

If you are a senior woman not working in this space, but keen to lend any advice from other sectors to members who do, you are also very welcome.

To post a positive note on here: I'm caught in some distressing traffic but on my way! Sorry to be a bit late.

Really sorry but I'm going to have to pull out as well. Really gutted as this is the area that I'm currently working in! Next time, I hope.

I've just pulled out, as I have taken on a few too many things this week. Someone else please take my place!

Sadly same here. I am sure Nina will provide a summary of the meetup :) I hope the digital health diagram, used on the 10 digital ladies page, will spark discussions.

Am sure it will. My write ups only ever cover what is okay to be shared BTW but I'll do my best!
