100+ Women Who Care - Summit Meeting

It's time for our 2nd Women Who Care Meeting of 2013!

We will nominate and choose our 2nd Quarter Charity within Summit County, and a spokesperson from our 1st Quarter winning charity, Access, will be attending to share with us how our donated funds were used.

There is strength in numbers! We invite you to become part of a powerful group who wants to make a significant impact in our community.

100+Women Who Care was first started in Jackson, Michigan by Karen Dunigan in 2008. Her group of 100 women, at their first one hour meeting, raised $10,000 to buy 300 new baby cribs for an organization in their city. Their membership has now grown to nearly 300 members. Since that time other cities throughout the country have formed groups. Ohio currently has groups in Dayton and Columbus as well as newly formed groups in the Cleveland-Metro area, Western Reserve, Lorain County, Medina County and now Summit County.

Please see our website www.100womenwhocaresummit.weebly.com for forms and information on 100+ Women Who Care or email your questions to [masked].

The concept is simple but extremely effective: gather a group of women together 4 times a year for an hour-long meeting. During the meeting, anyone can suggest an organization that she'd like the group to help. The organization must be a Summit County non-profit. 3 of the organizations are then randomly chosen and those who chose those organizations must then make a 5-minute presentation to the group, after which there is a question and answer session. After all of this, each member votes by ballot and the organization that has the most votes is the winner. finally, each woman writes a check for $100 that very evening to the organization and shortly after the checks are presented to the winning organization.

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
