Introduction

I started this group to meet pilots in my area, and have a great excuse to find new airport restaurants. I was away from home a lot, flying out of my base in Chicago. I'm local now. It is time to get the prop spinning and do some real flying!

Why did you join this group?

Meeting friends and getting fed!

Tell us an airport/restaurant you would love for us to fly in to.

Any and all!

What aircraft do you fly?

Mooney right now

What led you to abandon logic and income to be a part of aviation?

Always wanted to fly.

What is your favorite flying memory?

Possibly flying a helicopter over and into Bryce Canyon

What Mara is saying about this Meetup Group

If you are a pilot and need an excuse to go flying, join us! Our fly-ins are California based but we try to hit norcal and socal.

  • Hi Mara, your note says 9AM start... I went last time, and discovered it starts at 8AM. You may wish to verify and update.

  • Hello Mara. My wife and I fly to California a couple times each year. We would love to join you guys sometime. If you get a chance, join my site and create a group there. pilotsleague.com. It's a free social network for pilots. Thanks!

  • Mara, on the hats and/or badges I don't see anything wrong with keeping the name the same or close to the same, EG: "$100 Hamburger Flyers". Then on the second line the persons name or whatever they want, EG: "Jim Blum, pilot" or "John Doe, copilot", or "Mara, chief hamburger".

As far as a logo, maybe a picture of a hamburger with wings?
    Anyone else have any ideas?

(I noticed I had some typos in my previous post: IE: hamberger instead of hamburger, and flying instead of flyin.)

  • Hi Mara,
I have a suggestion for this group:
In order to recognize flyin group members at a busy flying such as an airshow, how about offering custom embroidered caps (baseball type caps and possibly custom badges) for club members which would have "$100 hamberger" and the member's name on them. The caps and badges would be offered at group discount cost, and each member could order a cap (and/or badge) and specify their name.

  • Hi Mara - Paul Smith and I enjoyed the Runway Cafe at Woodlake (O42) on Sunday. According to their menu, their breakfasts ought to be amazing! Lunch was good, too. Short runway, high temps.
