I write a bit of everything. I write non-fiction for HubPages, I write children stories and contemporary fiction, poems (mostly just for me) and narrative essays. I have a science fiction story floating around in my thoughts so I'll get around to that genre eventually.
I read a book by Malcolm Gladwell entitled Outliers. The book highlights an important factor to success; mastery. For anyone to achieve mastery in anything, they have got to put 10 thousand hours of *purposeful* practice into their craft. This information opened my eyes to the amount of work I had cut out for me and gave me something to aim for, 10 thousand hours. So whenever I feel like slowing down, or distractions come my way, I think "No slowing down. Gotta put in my ten thousand hours."
I've self-published e-books, but I hope the writer's path leads to being published in any form; traditional, digital, magazines, anthologies etc.
What I hope to gain from the group: - honest critiques - an exchange of knowledge and experience - good advice - writers I can call friends :)
