At first I wasn't sure if I was the right person to continue this meet-up group considering it (was about to) close almost immediately after I joined, so I waited till the last minute to see if there was a veteran member who was going to take the lead. It is my intention to build on what is already here, add and propagate. I hope you will all join in what could be a renewed effort.
A little bit about me; My name is Michael Van Parys. I am trained as an architect and I am currently a sustainable consultant. I have taught sustainable and LEED courses at UCLA extension and have given workshops to various architecture, engineering and development firms including A.C. Martin, TSMR, Brandow & Johnson, Arcadis... I am currently the sustainable advisor for an energy efficient estate in Malibu, CA as well as the LEED project administrator for 580 unit condo project in Marina del Rey (currently on hold) and an 18 story mixed use project in chinatown set to commence at the end of this year.
I am married to a much better designer/project manager and mother of my two children who also happens to be a LEED AP. I live in downtown Los Angeles.
I have a space that we can meet, conference room seats 8, and if we need to expand (hopefully) then I am sure we can find alternate solutions. Please join me in celebrating the (re) opening of The Sustainable Design Network. I will send out/post our next meet-up which will be in one week, 27th of May in downtown los angeles, 1100 south hope street suite 103 at 7:30. Agenda: recap past, re-introductions, plan for the future.
