hi Phillip et al,
Is there any way you could open up the meetup's message board so that we could get some discussion going without it flooding everyone's inboxes? The poll feature might be a good way to begin fielding ideas for activities and/or basic logistics for where/when to meet.
This group might be interested in a free event on 9/25 at MoCA, sponsored by Zocalo LA: a panel of promiment architecture/urban design public intellectuals, policy makers, and developers will weigh in on the Grand Avenue downtown redevelopment project. Although it isn't explicitly about "sustainable design" per se, shouldn't all design be? And wouldn't it be fantastic if the public Q&A makes sure that pertinent questions get asked, given that this has enormous potential to impact the texture of the city? More info about the event and tickets available at their website: http://www.zocalola.org/#moca
Finally, Phillip, have you
considered approaching a firm and/or a design-related business (e.g., Hennessey & Ingalls bookstore) that would want to offer their space for a bunch of design aficionados to meet? Otherwise, there are also public libraries...
