A Christmas Story 10K & 5K

General Information:

Be a part of history for the first A Christmas Story Run!  2013 is the 30th anniversary of A Christmas Story and the A Christmas Story Run is the concluding event to celebrate this classic movie. Come join us at 9:00 A.M. on December 7th as we take you back down Memory Lane to the movie set locations that made this movie famous. Dress up like Ralphie, Run in a Leg Lamp Costume or jog in the Bunny Suit that Aunt Clara gave Ralphie for Christmas!   This race attracts serious runners, everyday runners and walkers alike!  We are family friendly and hope to add to your Christmas spirit during the holiday season.

Bring your camera and think about what you want to tell Santa to bring for Christmas!  Hopefully a Red Ryder BB Gun!

Mission:

The mission of the A Christmas Story Run is to provide a race that promotes health and fitness, stimulate the local economy and galvanize the community.  These events are made possible through corporate and foundation in-kind and financial support, close partnerships between the A Christmas Story House & Museum, Speedy FeetForest City Enterprises and the Downtown Cleveland Alliance.  Our Charity partner is the A Christmas Story House Neighborhood Restoration Project.

Location:

Both the 5K and 10K races start in Public Square near the Cleveland Horseshoe Casino and the Terminal Tower. The 5K will run to the A Christmas Story House & Museum.  The 10K will run to the House and back to Public Square.  For the 5K runners, Lolly the Trolley will be transporting you back to Public Square.

A one-mile Leg Lamp Fun Run for children and families will start and finish at Public Square.

A Christmas Story House & Museum is located at 3159 W. 11th St. Cleveland, OH 44109.

Race Times:

5K and 10K starts at 9:00AM in Public Square.

Leg Lamp Fun Run starts at 10:30AM in Public Square.

All participants who are at the actual event in Cleveland, OH receive:

A stellar Leg Lamp themed long sleeved shirt. Free entrance to A Christmas Story House & Museum on race day (show race bib). Watch A Christmas Story on the Jumbotron in Public Square. Chip Timing so Santa knows how well you ran. He asked us to send your results to the North Pole! Complimentary transportation as “Lolly the Trolley” takes you to the start/finish areas and the movie locations. Race entry automatically enters runners in the Door Prize drawing to win your very own Leg Lamp! Post-race food

Runners, you asked and we’re making it a reality!  Thanks for having Black Bart come to the door and twist our arms into having the virtual option!  Runners all across the U.S. can participate in this holiday tradition!  Register with friends or sign up your local running group.  Celebrate in the festivities by adding us to your running group Christmas celebration!  Run the 5K or 10K distance on December 7th and have a potluck while watching A Christmas Story movie! Wear your official medal at the party and you will have the best “Bling” Santa has ever seen!

Good New! Due to overwhelming requests, we now have two more options to participate in the A Christmas Story Run and stay connected with your running friends and family over the holiday Season!

International Run – Anywhere outside of the United States. You can sign up on the link above to receive the same amenities!  The international run had a flat fee of $90.  Registration must be completed by November 1st to ensure Santa has enough time to deliver your package.  Your present includes the official race bib, commemorative long sleeved shirt and the coveted “It’s A Major Award” medal. International Military Run – It has touched our hearts here at A Christmas Story House that the men and women serving our country overseas have asked to be a part of this event. For military personnel  deployed during the holiday season that want some wonderful Christmas spirit, we will send the registration present using military APO shipping rates.  Whether you register yourself or your register a loved one serving overseas, this is a great way to stay connected during the holiday season. Registration must be completed by November 1st to ensure Santa can deliver the package to your top-secret location.  Your packet includes the official race bib, commemorative long sleeved shirt and the coveted “It’s A Major Award” medal. Group Rates!

In the A Christmas Story Movie, Ralphie said, “My mother has not had a hot meal in 15 years!”  As a tribute to Ralphie’s mom, we are offering group registration at a discounted rate!  Groups of 15 or more will receive $3 off the registration fee per runner.

Think of a fun Christmas name for your group so we can track you in Christmas Style!  Distribute the personalized coupon code to all of your group members!  Your group has through November 1st to submit the group registrations.  We will provide a unique coupon code for your group.  We will then mail all race packets to the group leader you provide to us for bulk shipping.

Packet Pick-up and Late Registration:

Packet pick-up is Thursday 12/5 from 2-5, Friday 10-5 at the A Christmas Story House & Museum, and the morning or the race at the staging tent in Public Square. Race Day packet pick-up and same day registrations are from 7-8:30AM. Runners that register after November 15th are not guaranteed an official Race Shirt.

Race Results:

Scrolling results will be displayed at the 10K finish for both the 5K and 10K races on race morning at the Public Square location. Online results for the 5K and 10K will be available on Saturday December 7th by 12 noon.  Results can be found on line at www.speedy-feet.com.

Overall and Age Group Awards:

All participants who are at the actual race in Cleveland, OH are eligible for awards. The top 3 overall winners for both the 5K and 10K will receive their very own Leg Lamp. Participants placing in the top 3 spots in their age groups will receive unique Leg Lamp medals.  Age ranges for age group awards are as follows: 0-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+.

      Dev, that stinks!! You should register for the turkey trot. I know it's a bit further than 5k but you could walk more than run if you need to!
