Hi everyone. Just amazing that in 4 short days since we announced and posted the #140conf Meetup in Philly, about half the spots are full! Very exciting. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to open more spots for attendance, so if you know someone who would definitely want to be there, I would let them know soon.

We should have some updates for you in the very near future; stay tuned.

We cannot wait to see you all there!

We. Are. Excited. If you know anyone thinking of attending who hasn't yet RSVP'd, tell them to do so. We can't promise we can open any more spots beyond the 19 left. Remember, if there is anything you would enjoy seeing or have any questions or comments for us, find us on Twitter: @donlafferty @gloriabell @harveymilk @jamesbressi @jeffpulver @jonnygoldstein

Wow, all spots taken. A waiting list has been created and we hope to get those on it inside!

On another note, I've begun a Twitter list for attendees to easily find each other -- this makes it much easier to connect. Twitter did not like the number of searches for you that I made and I must rest, but the list can be found here ---- http://twitter.com/#/list/jamesbressi/philly-140conf-atte... ---- If your name isn't on it yet, reply to me on Twitter @jamesbressi and I will add you

What a group of diverse professionals converging on January 12th -- 8 short days from now. I had a lot of time to think while stuck at the airport for 10 hours today. Exactly 11 months ago today I first met Jeff and a few other amazing people (who will be at the meetup) like Geo Geller, Chris Bartlett, Steve Lubetkin, Rick Alcantara, Evan Urbania, Jonny Goldstein, Don Lafferty & Gloria Bell who all played a role in my unbelievable 2009. Your connections here can be invaluable if you let them.

Any suggestion of the types of books to bring? Do they need to be science books or can they be literature or textbooks?

The only requirement we were given by Science Leadership Academy is that it be "a book you love" appropriate for ages 14-19.

Does this have to be a new book or will a gently used book do?

Excellent F2F networking opportunity with a great combination of social media denizens and devotees. Always great to connect with people in the social media space in person. And if I had known Jeff in high school, we almost certainly would have been geeking out together way back then!

This was the first event in a long time in Philly where you could feel the energy. Surprisingly well attended, great speakers and a really fun night.

Updates & "Never mistake motion for action.": I think you all know how I and others feel about you coming out, so I'll save the chars to share this: 1. I am having a blast following those who asked to be on the Twitter list http://twitter.com/jamesbressi/philly-140conf-attendees now that I know more of you--feel free to follow it or reply to me to be added. 2. I am overwhelmed with those of you I am watching take ACTION by proactively making a more meaningful connection with others who attended.

Also, to add to the previous post, here is a great blog post by attendee Dave Burris http://bit.ly/8mUNOo and Technically Philly poses a tough question for those who attended the #140conf Meetup in Philly http://bit.ly/5IKHtU -- I doubt many of you would mind weighing in and repeating the love of last night you shared on Twitter for almost the last 24 hours!

This was the first time I've attended an event like this and it was awesome. All 4 speakers brought something different to the table! I also got to meet so many interesting people. Not only did I meet people, I made friends!!! I had so much to think about when I left, I actually decided to walk all the way back to Fishtown. My phone is dying so I'll come back later to comment more!

Happy to see Phiily is now part of the #140 circuit. For a launch event this one went off with a bang. The friendly crowd encompassed a broad mix of social media/marketing folks, and each presenter offered a different perspective on the benefits of the real-time web. Good vibes all-around

I know I'm posting this three days after the event, I feel the suspense may have been overwhelming for some of you... waiting... to... see... if... I... had any comments to make. Well, simply put: I WAS AMAZED! The amount of people in attendance, many of which I was able to socialize with in various topics throughout the night, and the prepared presenters enlightening stories, insight and professionalism behind social media. All that and the many people who sought me out, recognized me from Twitter, Facebook and the like. I was awed by how many of you were personable enough to say, hey... Billy! That really made me feel comfortable. I knew that I wasn't the only one who was seeking out people I'd "known" through social networking sites, anxious to meet you for the first time in real life. I'm looking forward to many more events like this where other Philadelphians and people throughout the internet can meet in person to exchange ideas, advice, insight and more. Thanks! 8D

The energy: infectious. The people: inspiring. The result: insanely great. It wasn't the speakers, the organizers, or the paparazzi (better known as Geo), it was the collection of brilliant minds with diverse backgrounds who attended and left there minds and hands open to receive the gift of engagement. If only one person was inspired, provoked to thought, moved to action, made a connection, or received some other value then it was worth it. There is no doubt in my mind after reading blog posts and plentiful reactions on Twitter and Facebook that it was worth it over and over again. It is my one hope that the people in attendance grace us with their presence again for the next #140conf Meetup in Philly and each one thereafter.

Lets do some more - good networking and program may need to move to a larger venue though

As someone who plans and attends a good number of gatherings, mixers, conferences, etc., I can tell you this is one of the best events I've ever attended - I left feeling encouraged, enthused, and more connected! Can't wait for the next #140conf!

Excellent program. Many thanks to the speakers, Jeff, Ellen, Eric, and Gloria. I especially liked hearing from Jonathan Mayberry.
  • Nadine Bonner
Great speakers and a good crowd. I look forward to the next Meetup.

The #140conf Philly was a terrific event. I had a wonderful time and was honored to be ask to give a short presentation (and later sign copies of my book, PATIENT ZERO). Jeff is doing a great job of spreading the word that Twitter allows for people around the world to become part of a genuine interactive community. It's the best business tool around, and Jeff Pulver is on the leading edge of how to make the best use of it.
  • Rick Toone
Great night and a lot of great people. All the speakers were interesting and the amount of time they spoke was on the mark.
  • Hadley Ferguson
Wonderful speakers. Lots of fun and great inspiration!
