Pre-SuperBowl Calorie Burn...Snowshoe day Mt Evans Wilderness
CDOT Hogback Park N Ride (map)
Inviting peeps from my 3 groups to get out on Saturday before football Sunday and snowshoe up Hefferman Gulch (between Idaho Springs and Echo Lake on hwy 103). About a 5 mile round trip with gentle incline up the gulch. Did this yesterday with another Meetup group and it was a blast. Bring yer doggies if you got em. Beau Joe's pizza in Idaho Springs afterwards to make sure we all get back the calories we burned! Either car pool at 0900 from Wolly Mammoth Lot park n ride (Exit 259 off I 70 westbound) or meet at Hefferman Gulch at 10 (take hwy 103 south about 10 miles from Idaho Springs (park on Hwy 103)

For those that are driving to the hike, a point of clarification is that we will be meeting at HEFFERMAN GULCH ROAD which is on the right side of Hwy 103 about 4 miles BEFORE you get to ECHO LAKE travelling in direction from Idaho Springs. We will snowshoe in from Hwy 103 about 1.5 miles and that will get us to the SOUTH CHICAGO CREEK TRAILHEAD. From there we will continue in about another 2 miles or so. Just checking to see if people are still going to show up. All of my gear is in Summit county so I don't want to drive up there to get it if no one is coming.

Okay thanks. I think it will be a lot of fun but dont want to drive up to summit county if I am going to be the only there, I appreciate your quick response. Will probably leave soon
