I work weekends and I rarely get to attend Sat/Sun hikes, so I'm putting together this weekday trip for people who want to check a couple more 14ers off their list! Here's the plan:
EXPERIENCED HIKERS ONLY!
You must have climbed a 14er before, have all the necessary gear, and be in good shape. The weather demands we summit quickly so if you do not have a fast hiking pace, this is NOT the hike for you. We will be hiking the South Slopes Route, so expect nearly 14 miles RT and 6,100' elevation gain. For us as a group, plan to meet at the Trailhead before 5am. This is a long hike so we will need to be on the trail and moving as close to 5am as possible. If you get there later than that, we will already be on the trail and you will need to catch up. Trailhead is the N. Cottonwood Creek Trailhead. Details can be found here:
I am planning on camping at the trailhead Tuesday night so message me to coordinate if you'd like to join me then. As this is June in Colorado, our summiting is dependant on the weather. As no 14'er is worth a human life, we will be cautious. Columbia will be attempted as long as the weather holds well once we summit Harvard. If you have any questions, please email me but get excited, this looks to be a beautiful hike :)
