Tango for the Complete Beginner

  • Sep 1, 2013 · 4:00 PM
  • Local Dance Pros at Loudmilas

Again, not wanting to SPAM but cause I know weekends are valuable and I dont want people to feel misled, I think its important to make this clear so that people dont think they will dance tango on day one...

This course is intended to build a solid foundation while growing into playful & stylish basics. It is a cumulative, building course & therefor is not best for single class testing. This is a specific course for serious beginners who are interested in the true elements & foundation of the dance & not just looking for steps. If someone is interested in just trying out the dance her teaching style, they can do a drop in class on Monday evenings, 7 pm technique, 8 pm steps, at the Studio for $15.

What led me to this instructor...

Though I'm horrible at movement - and perhaps because I am, I have been doing several dance related events to include the recent HipHop class.

So I thought of putting my recommendation in for a Beginner's Tango event. My tango instructor has been very easy, cool and affordable so I thought everyone in the group might enjoy and benefit from her friendly instruction style.

Like hiphop, tango is one of those 1000 things you've gotta try out...at least once.

I do have to warn you that tango is very hot and addictive.

Salut Irina. The sessions are 1 hour long. Usually - except for this Sunday, people like to hang around and learn/ try out stuff or we go dine out/karaoke, etc.

Hi Barbara, does this mean that we all have to sign up for a 6-session class at $120 per person to attend this Meetup?

    August 26, 2013

    • Danielle

Is it possible to attend (and pay for) only this one lesson to see if you like it before you commit for a series of lessons?

Some additional info...This course is designed where no partner is absolutely needed. Please bring comfortable working footwear, social designer shoes not suggested. Footwear should allow for repetitive pivoting so flip flops or sticky rubber soles are not a good idea. Practice wear that allows for comfortable but optimal amount of movement.

My remark was made before they posted the northern vs location. I haven't paid attention since then. Not the organizer so I can't answer your question

any thoughts on a location for this? near Alexandria or Arlington would work well for me; I work Mon/Wed nights; have kids this weekend so 23-24 Aug is out for me. I'm a beginner at Ballroom, just started with a few lessons this summer. would need to find a beginner level partner as well.

Hey, all, just joined the group! At the moment a foot injury keeps me from participating in the dance classes (though I would totally try to run with the bulls if I wasn't working that day). I will definitely keep a close eye on meetups for things to do!

Awesome. I will contact the instructor for a firm date but I do know it will probably be a Sunday afternoon. The class will also probably be near old town Alexandria - perfect for an after class group meal. Remember this is geared towards the complete beginner.
