MONGOLIA 2014: Glaciers, Deserts & Culture

  • Aug 21, 2014 · 7:00 PM

Is Mongolia on your list of places to visit?

I'm organizing a group to go to Mongolia in August 2014. The trip is from August 21-September 9. We'll be booking with a local tour agency to organize a trek in the Altai region for 10 days and then sightseeing/driving tour to Gobi Desert. Please see the Mongolia trip information uploaded under the "file" section of this meetup group. Feel free to email me if you have questions.

That sounds fantastic but alas I have to work late this week. Will be jazzed when I return to a more normal M-F schedule! ECM

For those interested-- please see this posting with all the details.

Booking is open for altai trek as long as there are still flights available so make sure to decide sooner than later. The altai trek is from august 24-Sept 2; the gobi 5 day is from sept 4-8. Email me directly if you have questions.

I am interested, but wouldn't be able to do a TR meeting. I'm in DE ... can you keep me updated?

I am interested, just concerned about being fit enough to cross a mountain range.

It is highly advisable that you're active and fit. Most of it will be cardio and just the mental stamina as nights can be cold. The distance is from 7-25 kms a day. There is time to prep. I recommend hiking at least hiking 8 miles or more with at least 2,000 feet elevation gain.
