30PLEASE READ ALL THE FOLLOWING INFOMATION BEFORE REQUESTING TO JOIN.
Criteria for joining: Black, Female, Living in London, Aged 21-45, Shy, quiet, introverted, awkward, socially anxious, reserved or similar Meet the criteria? congrats!! you already have 5 things in common with the rest of the group! Let the friendship building begin!!
"Why are you so quiet?"
Ever heard this question? Ever hated it? Ever known the person asking didn't really care about the answer?! Then meet the group for you!!
I started this group because, as a socially anxious, introverted person myself, I find it difficult to meet people, and then to stay in touch when I do. I find it difficult to socialise with more extraverted, outgoing people, as I feel that my personality type doesn't "fit". It's also quite difficult to meet other young, black women who share my personality type as we are often stereotyped as loud and outgoing. Where are the rest of us?!?!
I am trying to build lasting friendships, which is easier to do when people have things in common. To that end, this group is to bring together young Black women who are either shy, introverted, socially anxious, awkward, quiet etc If any of the above applies to you and you are looking to meet new people and make friends for life, welcome aboard!
Please be sure that you fit the criteria before deciding to request membership. Most people are "shy in new situations/when i meet new people" or would say "i used to be shy but now i'm not". If either of these is you, then this is not the group for you. I am trying to bring together women whereby these personality traits have impacted on their work life, personal relationships and platonic relationships. if that isn't you, then this is not the group for you.
(I apologize for the "exclusivity", but I feel that young, black women of this personality type find it more difficult to find others who are the same, verses other ethnic groups. In terms of age, I think it helps with bonding and maintaining cohesion if we are in similar life phases.)
As well as the above criteria, there are also requirments for being a member of 2Shy. I am committed to this being an active and flourishing community of friends, not just a large group of random strangers who meet up every once in a while. This requires participation from ALL members. As such, as a new member, you will be given a 3 month "get to know us" grace period where you are not required to participate. However, after that 3 month period, you will be expected to participate with the group AT LEAST once a month. I understand that as we have issues with shyness/social anxiety you may feel nervous to meet up. I 100% understand this and I will NEVER make attending meet ups a requirement of the group. However we have various forums/message boards you can participate in, in any way you want to, whether starting a topic or contributing to an existing one (you will learn more on this when you're a member!)Please note, these are participations by way of posting to the boards or attending meet ups, NOT financial contributions. I review the group every month and if you have not participated, you will be asked if you wish to continue to be a member of the group. Anyone who has not contributed will be removed from the group. Please be sure you can commit to being an active part of this community BEFORE requesting to join
Peace and Love
