I could try to explain contra dancing but It would be much better to go and try it out! Think line dancing but with groups of 4 and instead lots of swinging! Its live folk music and they teach you the steps to each song/dance slowly before actually starting. Its very easy to learn, loads of fun, and everyone there is very friendly (they'll help you out if you get confused). Its also pretty casual, no big dress up but girls usually like wearing skirts to spin in. :)

Cost is $10 (on some nights students can get in for $8)

There's sometimes a beginner lesson (or at least some easier dances) that runs 8-8:30 when its not as crowded so it's good to come at 8:00, many people usually arrive 8:30 to 8:45.

This will be my first meetup ever. As a new person, how do you guys typically find each other?

This sounds fun! I'll try to make it over the mountain, though I may fall into the "extremely confused" camp.

You'll be okay if you ask (or they ask you) experienced people to dance! I can try to give some tips beforehand tho haha

For people who are new to contra id suggest coming at 8 they have a little beginners thing with less people to help show you the moves so youre not extremely confused. We can meet by the back window/chairs.

I am note sure if time is wrong or it changed. Is it at 8, or 6:30?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
