    Jill,

You and I have both organized enough events to know that although 50 have a YES RSVP, statistically, only about half will show. Why are we concerned about a limit at a restaurant? Why not remove the RSVP limit and let the restaurant profit as well as manage the crowd?

    • Jill

I'm not interested in numbers huge numbers. I'm interested in providing a quality time and if that means that my comfort level allows for 50, then you should not question me. I've hosted events with well over 300 people and I promise you that unless you have a large team of people helping the primary host out making sure everyone is being greeted, taken care of, included in the group, then the attendees may feel like the host isn't doing his or her "job" well. If you have an issue with this, then come talk to me tonight.

Jill, I will talk to you tonight. I think you are taking my comments a bit too personal. It was a simple question which you graciously answered in regards to how large an event you wanted to handle. Thank you for clarifying that point. See you tonight

Come on Marshall, she's got 2 other groups coming that have a lot of people RSVP'd each as well. She knows the law of averages. That's over 100 people. I've organized enough to know the same thing as you. But if you get bad service because of too many people, and the place is too crowded to move around in then the experience isn't as fun. It's not cool to call the organizer of an event out on the wall for everyone to see. She's gone to the trouble to put this together for the group, and we should thank her for it.

Bill, I think you should re-read my note. I am not putting her to the wall or disregarding her service in putting this meetup together. Its a simple request, knowing the averages with meetup, to remove the RSVP so that more people can enjoy the event. This particular restaurant is very capable of handling 200 people in the bar area and patio.

I won't be there until a little after 6pm, but I will be there.

Please go ahead and get your spot on the wait list.... I am pretty sure we will be able to open it up to more than the 50 we have RSVPed.

Just FYI, I'm cohosting with another group host on another meetup group so we already have a max amount of people going. However there are always people flaking out at the last minute. I can certainly add an actual wait list. Matthew, there wasn't one until I changed the status of this meetup. The reason why we limit the amount is to make sure that the staff can take care of all of us and we have enough room for everyone in the bar area. Sometimes staffing (in the past) has become overwhelmed. If anyone who has RSVPed here decides they are unable to go, please remove yourself. If either the other host or I do not check you in when you get to the bar, we will be marking you off as no-shows and we very much dislike doing that. So please be mindful with RSVPing. We want to include everyone who is able to attend.

Christine you should RSVP. This event is a few weeks out and I am sure that at least one person will change from a "yes" to a "no". You will be the first person on the wait list. Once someone drops off, you will automatically be changed from a wait list to an attending.
