Saturday Morning Hike to Bagby Hot Springs!

Are you looking for a way to burn off those Thanksgiving calories? Hoping to relax after the craziness of Black Friday? Or maybe you’re like me, and you just want something fun to do with your 4 day weekend. Then join us for a relaxing hike to Bagby Hot Springs! (www.bagbyhotsprings.org , www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagby_Hot_Springs ) These hot springs are located in Mount Hood National Forest, about two and half hours (83 miles) outside of Portland. If you haven’t gone before, the drive there is BEAUTIFUL. Once we reach the location, it is an easy 1.5 mile hike to the hot springs. The trail follows a river and there are many great photo opportunities, so don’t forget to bring a camera!
The hot springs have been developed to maximize the relaxing experience. There are cedar log tubs for individual soaking, and a large communal tub as well. And if you’re thinking about coming with that special someone, there are 5 private soaking rooms that you can have all to yourself! Everything is covered with a wooden roof, so don’t worry about getting any cold rain on you.
Logistics: Unfortunately, this group is going to have to be small (about 10 people) so that we don’t overrun the hot springs. We’ll meet up at the Starbucks in Hollywood (1633 NE 39th Ave, Portland, OR 97232, right off of the I84) at 8:00am. Please try to be on time! At the café, we will work out the driving arrangements. I suggest we carpool to save on gas. Remember to bring some food and plenty of water, but no alcohol, since it is not allowed at the hot springs. It will probably be a total of 7-8 hours before we’re back at the Starbucks (5 hours total driving time, plus 2-3 hours at the hot springs).
I have been to these hot springs about a dozen times with no problems. However, there is the slight possibility that the forest service road that leads to the trail head will be blocked. I recommend bringing tire chains just in case. If push comes to shove, we’ll simply hike to a different hot spring.
Also, you should know that clothing is optional at the bath houses. I will be wearing a bathing suit, and you should do whatever you are most comfortable doing, but know that you might see some birthday suits while you’re there.
Lastly, if you don’t have a car but you want to come, don’t sweat! I would be more than happy to pick you up, provided that you live in Portland. Just call me or leave a comment below.

Hey Guys, a few more things:
1. just a quick reminder to change you RSVP to NO if you can't make it.
2. For those of you on the waiting list, I really need to limit this hike to 15 people because there won't be enough room at the hot springs otherwise (and how fun would that be?). If this goes well, I'll definitely plan another one soon, and I'll be sure to contact you first. So, if you're on the waiting list come Saturday morning, please don't show up. It will just make things more difficult for all of us.
3. Some people have said that they've had stuff stolen out of their car while they were hiking. Therefore, DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR CAR AT THE HOT SPRINGS. I've never had anything stolen out of my car, and we'll be going in the middle of the day, but better safe than sorry.
4. Lastly, I'll be at the meeting place rain or shine. Right now, it looks like rain, but hopefully we'll get some sun.

Is anybody willing to take one or two passengers with them? You could split the cost of gas, make the trip cheaper for you.
