Camping @ Bodega Bay - Ridiculous Fun

    Planning on seeing what kind of interest there is for this before making it official.  Please only serious RSVPs!

    This event is probably the sickest event I've organized to date and am so excited to make it happen.  I recently went camping at the Bodega Dunes (and have been since I was a kid) and realized it would be an awesome spot to bring some SF friends and have a good time.  The Dunes Campgrounds itself is an awesome cluster of campsites that range in size and are only a small hike to the ocean.  While RVs are welcome, most of the sites are reserved by tent campers.  There are even bathrooms and showers with warm water!

    Bodega Bay itself is about a 2hr drive north from San Francisco. 

    This will be a three day - two night (48 hr) camping trip in Bodega Bay.  We'll be staying at the Bodega Bay Dunes which is just north of the town of Bodega (downtown is easily accessible from the sites).  We'll be reserving several camp sites depending on the final attendee count.  Each site has a fire pit, picnic table, and several spots to park your car.  We'll be providing and cooking several of the meals.  There will also be meals in which you can either cook on your own or head into town.  We'll also have access to unlimited s'mores. While there are two markets in town, the closest Safeway or large grocery store is a 40 minute drive away.

    There will be sand, dirt, and other outdoor stuff so please prepare appropriately.

    This event is $75 a person which includes several meals and two nights stay at the campgrounds.  You're responsible for your own transportation to and from the sites (I recommend coordinating in the comments).  You should also either bring your own tent or find someone with a large tent in which you can share.

    It does get cold at night so bring a warm sleeping bag, pillow, and other warm clothes.

    I will try to bring 2-3 extra tents in which people can 'rent' a spot in.  There won't be anything inside so please bring a pad or sleeping bag in you plan on using one. It'll be $10 a night to stay in one (and I'll make sure they're not too snug).

    What to Bring (essentials):

    Toothbrush - Toothpaste

    Tent (or find someone with one) - Sleeping bag - Pillow

    Two changes of shoes - Several changes of clothes

    Shampoo - Soap - Towel

    Warm sweatshirts, pants, and shirts

    Extra spending $ for additional meals or supplies

    Flashlight or lantern

    I will have 2 ice chests with me but there will be very little space for extra stuff. Please plan accordingly if you're bringing something that needs to stay chilled. 

    Please post in the comments if you're bringing stuff for the whole group so others can coordinate (if you're bringing some wine for people, extra food, etc).

    Agenda:

    Friday: 

    2-8pm - Tent set-up 'settling in'

    8pm - Dinner & orientation

    9:30pm - Smore's and introductions

    Saturday:

    9am - Breakfast

    10am - Hike out to the ocean (optional)

    12:30pm - Lunch (break into smaller teams for games)

    2pm - Trips to Goat Rock, other beaches, Armstrong Woods, Guernville, & Safeway (optional)

    6pm - Dinner (on your own)

    8pm - Group games and fun

    Sunday:

    10am - Breakfast

    1pm - Checkout & lunch (on your own)

    We'll be breaking up into small groups in order to meet new people and work together.  There will be several activities, games, and challenges for the group to complete.

    Meals Provided:

    We'll have dinner prepared for everyone at 8pm on the first night.  You will have the option to either cook your own dinner or head into town for food on Saturday night.

    Breakfast will be provided both mornings.

    Lunch will be provided on Saturday but you will be on your own for lunch on Sunday.

    Meeting Time: 

    We'll be meeting at the campsites between 1-2pm on Friday (I'll post the exact site #s on Wednesday).  Since I know most people can't get off this early they can come later in the evening; although, I highly recommend putting your tent up in the daylight and getting there as early as possible.  Dinner is at 8!  

    Carpools are highly recommended and if you bring others I'll pay for the overnight car fee.  Please coordinate with me on how many cars will be showing up.

    Hey guys! I updated the ticket link. There is a chance we'll be at a different camp site a little more south from the Dunes but just as beautiful. Still working out the details with the parks given our numbers and plans. Really looking forward to an awesome trip with everyone. Space is limited and there has been lots of interest so please get your ticket (even if just to reserve your spot) and I can give a full refund if something comes up. Thanks!
