Back to Basics Food Preservation: Root Cellars and Food Dehyrators

ULCS Clinic (map)

Selected By: Aalia Kusmis

This time we will discuss different ways of preserving the harvest.  Your group organizer will describe a modern way to create a root cellar.  She will also demonstrate how to dehydrate foods. So bring something you want to place in her dehydrator at the beginning of the meeting and you can take it with you as you leave!

We will be referring to instructions from "Dare to Prepare" by Holly Drennan Deyo, and also information provided by Healthy Days Health News. (Click on that name to bring up their site.)

Other members are invited to bring additional referance guides, and share details about anything they have been doing along these lines.

                       ____________

Please don't go up the driveway with ULCS Clinic sign.  Instead go up the first driveway, which is across the street from mailbox #298.  No need to knock.  Just go on downstairs.

The quickest way to contact the group organizer is by sending an e-mail to [masked].  Please enter "Meetup Member" in subj. line.

                            _______________

Why are we focused on preparedness at this time?

Extremely challenging times will soon be upon us, due to several situations which have reached a critical threshold.

To better understand why our very survival depends upon personal preparedness steps we  take now, please view the following links:

    Hello,
Maybe my root cellars would be interesting to some in the group. We have been talking to several folks about a large root cellar/storage structure for several extended family groups. Please check them out. If I can help in any way, or take part in a conference telephonically, I would be glad to. You can read about them at www.rainydayrootcellars.com All my contact info is there if I can help with anything - even to help you build your own root cellar. Thanks

Thanks EVER so much for attending! This group is really fortunate to have such KNOWLEDGABLE members! I learned so much from the info sharing. In addition to our announced topic, we discussed permaculture education and details of construction of raised beds! I really appreciate the way info flows between us, as if divinely inspired to cover so much more than what we planned!
