We'll be doing the next Port Coquitlam shooting meetup on April 27th, with more to follow.
Beginners are welcome, as always!
Anyone who wants to join us who HAS a firearms licence, please DO sign up, if you're willing to bring guns and supervise some newcomers - please note in your RSVP if you have a licence, are bringing firearms, and are coming to help out. I will adjust the total available spots and waitlist depending on how many people we have available to provide guns and supervise.
The Port Coquitlam gun range is located at 5000 Harper Road in Coquitlam. Cost is $25 per person for the day payable to the gun club by debit or cash, plus bring some cash for ammunition, or better yet, bring some ammo with you. I'll bring lots of .22 ($10 for as much as you want to shoot; I was providing this free, but it was getting expensive!!), 9mm ($20 for 50rds), 7.62X39mm ($10 for 20rds), and 5.56X45mm ($10 for 20 rds) for anyone who wants to buy some, and will bring a variety of semi-automatic rifles and handguns for people to try.
Range opens to the public at 11. I can supervise a maximum of three people at a time, with people taking turns, so unless other people with licences sign up, the first six without firearm licences to sign up will have spots, while anyone else RSVPing will be waitlisted.
I'm going to do to do this in two groups, one at 11 (the range opens to the public at 11:00 since daylight savings time took effect), the second group at 1PM. When you RSVP, please comment in your RSVP which time slot you prefer, 11 or 1, and I will try to accomodate.
If you want to bring a guest, please have them join the group and RSVP.
If you have to cancel, please do so no later than the evening of the Thursday before, so I can add any waitlisted people. I'll update the groups below as people sign up:
Has licence and bringing guns - Roger, Jim, Gabriel (AM only), Yehen, Ray (AM only)
11:00 - Lena, Sabrina, Will, Ivy, Andrew, Sara
1:00 - Naj, Alaa, RaeMari, Jan, Tess
Last details - bring eye protection (glasses or sunglasses are adequate), ear plugs, and something to shoot at. I suggest printing off some targets or, failing that, bring money to buy some at the gun club - some good printable targets are available at the following:
Finally, people with a history of 'no-shows' or last-minute cancellations in this group may be moved to the waitlist or bounced without warning in favor of people who have reliably showed up or not had an opportunity to shoot thus far.
* At the request of some of my volunteer assistants, when moving people from the waitlist to 'attending'. I will try to balance the group between male and female members - the concensus is that it's more fun for everyone that way :)
