A nice trip in the Manning Park, with not much elevation gain:600m but around 15km or so in length.

The actual objective is NOT the lake itself, but a minor peak nearby: Mara Peak.

Change of plans: we'll do Frosty Mtn!

Distance 16-18km

Elevation gain: 1100m (coming down through the Frosty Creek)

It seems to be the only area with no ice on the trails and they are expecting some fresh snow this week+ a nice sunny day on Saturday:)

I know is a bit of a drive there, but with an early start we should be able to have a lot of time for exploring the alpine area.

Hi David, are you planning to bring your dogs in this trip? There is a short chair lift ride that might not work for them...

Here is the trail for Frosty: use google earth to see how steep it is. http://goo.gl/maps/TW...

Just read John Baldwin description of the descent and it seems to be not very steep: just a short 35 degrees run that mellows down to a creek run almost all the way to the lake. If the conditions are good, this would rock!
