Fellow Wine Lovers!
It's post-Labor Day and early autumn is already starting to show its true colors - time to look ahead to the next 2 months worth of events and activities for the Wine Lovers! September has 16 events already planned and 11 so far for October, with many others in the works! WOW, another busy time for the Wine Lovers! And a number of other **big fall events** planned too, like camping, kayaking/tubing, beach day trip, festivals and concerts. Sooooooo...here's the highlights of some of our events we've got scheduled over the next couple of months:
Winery Day Trips - Wine and Waves II and our 3rd Annual Charlottesville wine-and-camping event (not into camping? We have the Charlottesville Day Trip option!), as well as Apple Picking & Wine, the Antietam Wine Trail, Hume Road Wineries and Fredericksburg's Grape and Grain Tour! Other trips are in the works too!
Happy Hours - Vinifera Wine Bar & Bistro, 8407 Kitchen Bar and $5 Comedy night at the Draft House, plus Blues and Brews in Crystal City. It is Octoberfest time, so let's have some beer events! A few others are in the works, but we would love to have a couple of Wine Lovers out there host a happy hour, so please talk to us if you're interested - happy hours are very easy to set up and a lot of fun to host! Check out our Trivia Team too! Churchkey, Grand Cru, Poste, Cork, Veritas, Cheesetique, Curious Grape, Bier Baron, the list is endless for happy hours - we just need a host!
Wine Festivals & More - Autumn is the heart of wine & festival season, and many events are scheduled! 3rd Annual Charlottesville trip, Great Grapes in Reston, VA Wine Festival and Maryland Wine Festival, Mount Vernon Wine Festival (get tix ASAP)! More coming soon!
Events & Concerts - LOTS of wine events going on - 3rd Annual Wine and Camping, Wine and Waves day trip to the beach, Das Best Oktoberfest at National Harbor, Mount Vernon Fall Wine Fest! Plus Paddle and Wine, Ladies Night with the Lost Boys, games night, and two different Ghost and Graveyard Tours in Old Town. Plenty of indoor and outdoor concerts just waiting for the group to join!
Charity Events – interested in hosting a charity event to raise money? Happy hours are a great way to do this, and we are happy to help!
Food & Wine – One brunch scheduled so far at Boqueria, and one "super secret" Italian tasting event in the works for 26 October (more to come!). Anyone want to host brunch?!
Even though we keep growing (over 1350 now!) our events are "sized right" for us, keeping the events smaller so everyone has a chance to meet each other and enjoy the group setting. Also, for RSVP'ing to events, make sure you actually can attend...don't sign up if you're not sure. We've had lots of "last minute" drop-outs to events with wait lists, and it doesn't allow those on the wait list time to get to events, hurting the group overall.
Don't hesitate to talk me or to any of our Assistant Organizers if you have an idea for an event or even want to host one. We are always looking for places to hold events and looking for new Event Organizers, in DC, MontCo, NOVA, PG Co, as well as Baltimore, Annapolis, F'burg, Charlottesville and beyond!!
Also, our sponsors are what keep us going, so make sure you check out Think Photography for affordable photography available to members (10% off!). In addition, our group has a number of perks available, just for mentioning the 20s & 30s Wine Lovers Meetup, so check out the Melting Pot in Reston, Iris Lounge in Tysons and Swirl&Sip, and our newest perk with Michael J Cavanagh Wine Events. All the Membership Perks are located to the left-side of your screen on our home page.
