For March the book is... The Book Thief

Hi Everyone! This should be another great book! Please let me know if you have any suggestions for places to meet, books to read or if you would like to host one of the book clubs.  Thanks!

Amazon description: The extraordinary #1 New York Times bestseller, Markus Zusak's unforgettable story is about the ability of books to feed the soul.

It is 1939. Nazi Germany. The country is holding its breath. Death has never been busier, and will become busier still.

Liesel Meminger is a foster girl living outside of Munich, who scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can’t resist–books. With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, she learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement.

In superbly crafted writing that burns with intensity, award-winning author Markus Zusak, author of I Am the Messenger, has given us one of the most enduring stories of our time.

We are still planning the next book club on April 1st at 6:30pm. We'll read The Silence of Bonaventure Arrow by Rita Leganski. I think there are a few copies at the Walnut Creek library. We're going to try something new at meet at Leigh Linden's house in Walnut Creek so we have a quieter place to talk about the book. She'll email everyone who is coming a few days before with the directions. Maybe each person can bring a snack and/or beverage. Hope to see you then. My email address is [masked]. You can email me if you think you would like to attend.

Leigh- do you want to leave your email address too?

    Hi Michelle,
I emailed Jenna and suggested the next meetup date and location we talked about at the last meetup. We wanted to read The Silence of Bonaventure Arrow by Rita Leganski but it is not confirmed with Jenna yet.

Hi ladies! I wasn't able to attend the last meeting - did you decide on the next book? Sometimes they take a while to get from the library so I'd like to start now

I just looked up the movie for the book and it'll be released for Netflix around April 8th. We can talk about getting together to watch it when we're at our April meeting.

So sorry to cancel so late in the game! My power has been out due to maintenance for most of the day and I have to finish up work that couldn't be done. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next one.

It turns out I will have to sit this one out since I have a conflicting schedule. But I am reading the book! The Murderer's Daughters for next month?

Last meeting we thought we would meet Rocco's again. We can try a different place for the following meeting. If you know of any good places that could accommodate a larger group, let us know.

Jenna - Above you asked for book suggestions, I have found the author Keigo Higashino to be a fantastic read! He only has 2 translated into English, but both are spectacular books. Similar to a Sherlock Holmes with genius crimes. Just thought I would provide the only 1 author suggestion I have...

When I went to reserve the book from the library it was under teen/young adult reading. Is this the correct book?

The author is Markus Zusak. The main character is a young girl so this might be in the young adult section.

Thanks! Wanted to make sure I was requesting the correct one. But it seems that the book won't be back for quite some time... Guess I may have to sit this book club out! I don't like purchasing books that I will only read once so I get them from the library
