(Bi-Weekly) Sunday Casual Ride

Greetings, fellow cyclists! I'm starting a bi-weekly ride to get back into cycling after having knee surgery this past December.

This ride is aimed to be super casual -- I'm choosing Hains for the first run as it is a flat, 3 mile loop. I want to transition this ride to an Arlington to Old Town Bike n Brunch sooner rather than later; Then eventually make my way up to Mt. Vernon.

Meetup time is at 9:15. Ride will begin at 9:30. More advanced riders are obviously welcome, just be prepared for a pretty chill pace.

Parking on the ear side is pretty easy. I'm in parking area 15

I'm so late! Just woke up and I gotta take my dog on a walk. What route are y'all taking so that I can link up with you guys after you start?

I can't make this one, but judging off of the "bi-weekly" comment, is this going to be a regular event?

Yup, planning on making this a regular event. Won't always be Hains, plan on transitioning this to a Bike n Brunch once my surgeried leg can hack it. Hope to meet you at the next one!

This is my first time in groups, is it for any kind of bikes? I have a mountain bike!!

    • Dawn

Yup, this ride is paved and flat, but no reason you can't bring a mountain bike. :-)

Hello everyone! Regarding tomorrow's meeting point: There is a picnic area close to the southernmost end of the park, I'll be on the Southeastern side (https://maps.google.com/maps?q=hains+point+dc+map)

I drive a grey Honda element (one of those weird, boxy looking SUVs. You can also text me at[masked] if you're wandering about the park and can't find us. I'm excited to meet you all!

Hey guys. One crazy question, is anyone interested in super early morning ride, at least two times per week? Around 4.30 am, in D.C. I'm thinking one flat ride, 20 to 30 miles in Haines Point and the repeating hills maybe wisconsin avenue or any other. Let me know

I'm planning on riding the Custis there, Four Mile back, with a stop in Shirlington for food and beer for any NOVAs interested.

I'm about 15 mph on flat I think. When the wind is pushing me from behind I can get to 19-20 mph (:
