Weather dependent and is a partial night ride. I am revising the meet up to watch a movie out of Rosslyn instead of Bethesda because lighting is a bit better on Mt Vernon than Capital Crescent.
Meet at Hains Point. Ride over the 14th street bridge to hit the Mount Vernon and head up to Rosslyn's Gateway Park to watch "Up in the Air" (1300 Lee Highway, corner of North Lynn and Lee Highway across from the Continental Bar and Grill and near the entrance to the Mt. Vernon). Folks who want to get more miles can do some rounds at Hains before joining at Rosslyn. I prefer to get to Rosslyn to secure a plot.
Movie only, no riding?- You can take blue/orange (and soon-to-be silver) to Rosslyn and walk to the movie area.
Total miles (~4mi per way, 8mi round trip). Terrain is flat but you have to bike up a ramp at Rosslyn.
We will use the Glympse app to share our starting location. Please download and install it before the meetup start time.
Parking: Folks who just want to join for the movie, on-street parking in Rosslyn is free after 6pm. Parking map. If you park at Hains, I am not sure how late you can leave your car.
Timing: Movies start at sundown..usually 8:45-9pm. Up in the air will finish close to 11.
What you need: snacks, water, bike lights (for biking at night), bike lock, and helmet. The outdoor movie will offer popcorn and water for sale for a few bucks. I prefer to carry light f but if you have a small folding chair and can carry it, feel free.
