What makes a conversation meaningful? Meaningful conversation happens when we share topics and ideas of shared importance and value in an open and respectful way.
Join a group of seekers, questioners, wrestlers, and imaginers as we connect and explore topics related to philosophy, spirituality, current trends, and everyday life.
Come for the laughs and insights, and stay for the community and friends.
We aim to meet every week at the same time and place ( at 7pm-10pm), with some familiar faces, and some new.
Most weeks, we will start with an icebreaker question or activity to give people a chance to get to know one another. After that, we may break into groups, mingle, or have a large group discussion. It’s “conversational jazz” so the format is continually evolving. Expect the unexpected!
What to Bring, Food/Drinks: Bring yourself and perhaps a friend. Some icebreakers may ask you to bring something from home, so check the comments. Alcoholic beverages and LaCroix are available at Stoup at your own expense. Food is not served at Stoup, but food is permitted, so we can bring snacks or even order a pizza.
Expect the unexpected. Most events start and end with some structure, with some group discuor mingling in the middle. You are encouraged to share from your personal lives while respecting your personal boundaries and the boundaries of others. You may be encouraged or inspired to do something or try on a thought. You will not be coerced to do or share anything you don’t wish to do. We encourage respectful dialogue and curiosity/asking questions over heated “debates”, where little learning is likely to take place. Also: Active listening is participating! Finally, for new or returning members, there’s an option to join our WhatsApp group, where we share community events, parties, updates, and interesting articles and ideas.
