Hiking at White Oak Canyon Falls

Come join us on a trip to enjoy some of the most delightful waterfalls in Shenandoah National Park. With a total of seven miles loop at the elevation gain of 2,450 ft but with moderate trials, this trip is taylor fit for almost any levels of hikers. The trip will last roughly five and a half hours including lunch depending on the experience level of the group. Here are some reminders: -Transportation: we are doing the carpool. For those who intend to RSVP, please indicate whether you are driving. We are all going to be meeting at the metro station and the drivers will pick up their passengers from there. -Cost: There is no meetup fee for this event. The park entrance fee for each vehicle is $15.00. And please be mindful that the traveling time from DC and NOVA to WOCF is two and a half hours. Therefore each driver should be compensated for $10.00 by each passenger to cover for the fuel cost. -Items to bring: lunch, dry towel, croc or sandals, any non-cotton clothing items with synthetic materials, hiking footwear, hydration pack or at least 2 liters of water, extra clothings to change, and don't forget to bring plastic bags to recycle the trash; ladies feel free to bring your bathing suits and for guys bring your swimming trunks for that photo opp under the breezy falls or a dip for a quick swim, binocular for nature enthusiast to spot one of the 17 varieties of rare and endangered hawks and falcons that love to perch by the falls in search of jumping spotted trout. NOTE: Couple of last opennings for drivers! Even though we are absolutely over the headcount limit, we can accomondate two more drivers since we will need you to help out the carpool. If you are a driver or you know any driver who may be interested (you and the driver can both join us), Please email me individually to add you to the list. Please make sure you specify the number of passangers you can take so I can make the arrangement accordingly. WOCF driving direction from the metro: 9469 Virginia Center BlvdVienna, VA 22181 1. Bring LOTS of water and snacks (in ziplocs b/c of bear) .. this hike kicked my butt when I was there in August (not my idea to camp/hike in the heat of summer), mostly b/c the person who prehiked it didn't warn us about the elevation changes- we did the whole 6-7 miles. Great views and a couple of good watering holes to splash around in to keep cool....
