*** Great day to learn how to bartend! See you there! ***
UPDATE #3: If you were unable to secure a spot for this event online, you have the option of "flying standby." There are usually 4 no-shows for this event, so you just might be able to get on board. Make sure to come early with exact cash.
UPDATE #2: The early-bird price has ended and the ticket price is now $50. Looking forward to seeing you there!
UPDATE #1: There are 5 early bird spots left and the price will increase from $40 to $50 when the early bird spots are gone or before Sun. Feb. 21st (whichever comes first). To be fair to those who want to join in and are ready to make payment, I'll be removing those that haven't paid by Sat. Feb. 2nd. So make payment to *truly* lock in your spot!

Some of you know I bartended at Ultrabar (1000+ person bar / club) every weekend for fun for the longest time.

Wonder how I got started? Well, I took an intense 5 week course from Professional Bartending School in Arlington, and became a certified bartender. If you've ever thought it'd be fun to bartend, and / or thought about actually trying it... well, here's your chance!
I have made special arrangements with the Professional Bartending School (one of DC's most respected bartending schools) and recruited Dimitri Ofiesh, a certified bartender with 5 years direct bartending experience, to show us what it's like to be a bartender. Join us for this informative, interactive, and fun 3 hour introductory seminar and hands on (yes, HANDS ON!) training class as we:
As soon as we walk into the school, we'll find it hard to believe that we are not in a real bar. The school is designed as a real bar. Whether we are a beginner or an experienced bartender, this course will help us gain a basic introductory insight into the exciting world of bartending.
We are privileged to have Dimitri, who has 5 years direct bartending experience in some of DC's top bars and clubs, as our instructor. Whether you've made bad decisions at Third Edition in Georgetown, let loose at Ibiza in Northeast, or anywhere in between, chances are that Dimitri has mixed you up a cold one
Our class consists of 2 hours of lessons, followed by 1 hour of hands on bar training where we'll step behind a bar to practice our new skills, tips on techniques, and most importantly, what it feels like on the other side of the bar.
Please note that we will be using colored water to simulate the different liquors, we will *not* be using real liquor. No bartending school I know of uses real liquor for both liability and cost purposes. We will each practice and get to make 20 - 30 drinks. Can you imagine the state of each person and waste if real liquor was used? We are there to learn, not get inebriated. We can do that at home after we learned everything we need to!
We've got an early bird special for this event of $40! The first 20 paid sign-ups, or those who pay before Sun. Feb. 24th (whichever comes first) get the early bird price! After that, the ticket price will go to $50. We have a LIMITED number of spots so make sure to RSVP early and make payment to get the early bird price!
Also please know that your RSVP is not guaranteed unless we receive payment. When you pay, your online receipt is confirmation that we have received your payment.
Come join us, tell a friend, and let's have a good time learning what it's like to be a bartender. Hope to see you there for this fun, informative, and interactive class!
- J.T.

Metro and Parking
A few blocks from Courthouse Metro stop (blue, orange lines). We suggest Metro / cabbing if you can. We also recommend using wmata for travel planning. Don't forget to account for Metro and traffic delays. If you are driving, you will need to find street parking or a garage.
Payment Instructions (Paypal account not required):
Please follow the instructions below for making payment. Payment at the door will be permitted only should the event not sell out. Most of our events do sell out, so we recommend you secure your spot online early. If you make payment for less than the current ticketed price without prior correspondence, your RSVP will be removed.
Event Check-in
We will have a master list of all those that have paid. It’s not required, but you may print out your payment confirmation as a backup. When you check-in, your RSVP will be listed under the name of the Paypal or credit card account used to make payment. Typically, this is your LEGAL name as shown on your driver's license. Sometimes, it may be under a company name if you set up your Paypal or credit card account that way. If you are not sure what it is, please take a moment to log into your Paypal account (it will say "Welcome, [your account name]" at the top) or your credit card account to find out. If you are RSVP'd under someone else's payment, please use that name for check-in.
Refund Policy & Ticket Resell
Since we paid in advance for this event, all sales are final unless the event is cancelled or rescheduled. Similar to a concert ticket or a football game ticket, you are free to sell your ticket to someone else if you are unable to attend. I suggest posting in the comment box for the event, that you have a ticket for sale. Work out payment between yourselves, and send us an email letting us know the full name and Meetup profile URL of the person taking your spot. Thanks for understanding. =)

If anyone needs a ticket, please let me know.
