Have you ever wanted to learn how to dance Michael Jackson's Thriller?
Well, here's your chance to learn and master the famous dance just in time for Halloween (which is coming up sooner than you know)! NO DANCE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.
I have reserved space at Ultrabar, one of the hottest clubs in DC, and recruited John Chu to show us step-by-step how to pull off Michael Jackson's signature dance and moves.
We are privileged to have John Chu as our instructor. With over 15 years dance experience, John has trained at the well known Broadway Dance Center in New York City, and his dance background runs the gamut, including breakdancing, hip hop, swing, hustle, as well as competitive ballroom and Latin dancing. He's been featured in the Washington Post's Going Out Guide as an Editor's Pick, profiled in Uptown magazine, and recently helped teach and perform the world record breaking Michael Jackson Thriller dance for the Thrill the World event. He loves to teach dance to student's of all levels and he brings a fun, enthusiastic style to his teaching. He's also one of our members, and you may have seen him busting out moves at some of our happy hours!
From 7:00 - 7:30pm we will check people in. The workshop will go from 7:30 - 9pm, where we'll mix, mingle, and DANCE before the regular crowd gets there. Then afterwards, we'll be ready to impress and keep the night going with the regular Saturday night crowd with our new dance moves. Cover at Ultrabar is ordinarily $20, but that is included in our ticket price!
The normal charge for this dance workshop alone is $30 elsewhere. We've got an early bird special for this event of $15 (the price of an entree at most restaurants)! The first 30 paid sign-ups, or those who pay before Saturday, October 1st (whichever comes first) get the early bird price! After that, the ticket price will go to $20. We have a LIMITED number of spots so make sure to RSVP early and make payment to get the early bird price!
Also please know that your RSVP is not guaranteed unless we receive payment. When you pay, your online receipt is confirmation that we have received your payment.

Metro
The closest metro is Gallery Place/Chinatown (Red/Yellow/Green Line). We suggest Metro / cabbing if you can. We also recommend using wmata for travel planning. Don't forget to account for Metro and traffic delays.
Dress Code
Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes to dance in (white glove optional). Venue dress code includes no hats, no athletic gear, no baggy clothes, no t-shirts, no low-end sneakers / tennis shoes, no flip / flops, no timberlands, no ripped jeans.
Payment Instructions (Paypal account not required):

Refund Policy
Since we paid in advance for this event, all sales are final unless the event is cancelled or rescheduled. Similar to a concert ticket or a football game ticket, you are free to sell your ticket to someone else if you are unable to attend. Work out payment between yourselves, and send us an email letting us know who will be taking your spot. Thanks for understanding. =)

This was an awesome event! I love that we had the whole place to ourselves and the open bar was a nice surprise! John is a great instructor and made learning the dance easy and fun. Can't wait to try this out at Halloween!
