21:21 will take you on a journey to classrooms all around the world.
Guided by Learning Activist and 21F founder Patrick Newell, you’ll visit schools in Japan, Brazil, Cambodia, Egypt, Iceland, India, Malaysia, Portugal, Tanzania and the USA.
Through this journey, the documentary highlights the fundamental problems facing current education systems, demonstrating that today’s society needs learners who have an understanding of global issues at a local level, and who can work collaboratively to coexist in a healthy and prosperous manner.
Providing potential solutions to the problems outlined, 21:21 explores a number of themes, including the importance of learning how to learn, the use of technology, and how guided inquiry prepares children for the core constant in life – change.
Having been filmed in a huge variety of learning environments, it becomes clear that 21st century learning techniques can be highly effective, irrespective of social backgrounds or pre-existing learning cultures.
The 21 Foundation team also interviewed a diverse range of parents and teachers to gain a better understanding of the issues facing today’s learners, and to identify a broad range of new approaches to learning that will meet the demands of the next generation.
Having watched 21:21, we hope you’ll join the 21 Foundation movement as we set out upon the real journey – the development and application of a 21st Century Learning Model, a new paradigm that guarantees our children the best possible future we can give them.
21 Foundation will always be indebted to the many educators, parents, students and collaborators from all over the world who took the time to support the team during the production of this documentary – Thank you!
