Introduction

I am the Founder and Chief Sharer of The People Who Share, a campaign and business dedicated to building a Sharing Economy where people share resources, skills, knowledge and opportunities.

Tell us a little about yourself

I am a social entrepreneur dedicated to building a Sharing Economy. I worked in broadcasting for over 20 years, launched two production companies and moved into the charity sector where I led a global entrepreneurship campaign in over 100 countries inspiring and equipping young people to be entrepreneurial. In 2011, I founded The People Who Share. I believe sharing is the solution to our global problems.

Can you tell us what sort of meetings would interest you.

Social enterprise, new economics, social change, poverty alleviation, equality, Sharing Economy, Collaborative Consumption, ecology, technology, green issues, digital communications, social media, marketing, diversity, community, community building, recycling, up cycling, time banking, peer 2 peer.

Are you interested in helping by being a speaker, a chairperson or a facilitator of some of our meetings or webinars ?

I am a seasoned and experienced speaker and have spoken at conferences including for the BBC, Channel 4, NESTA, WWF, UK Aware, the Guardian and The Big Society Network.

We have now started to hold House Meetings. Would you be willing to host a house meeting yourself and what topic would you be interested in discussing at such a meeting?

I would be very interested in hosting a House meeting and would be interested in hosting a meeting on the Sharing Economy, New Economics, Community Building, Community Cohesion, Collaborative Consumption, Green Economics, the role of business in the community, social entrepreneurship, solutions to poverty alleviation, long term thinking.

Are there any other ways you could they help us develop the 21st Century Network idea?

I can spread the word through social media, speak at seminars, conferences, webinars...

  • Hi Benita

I would like to introduce you to my group http://www.meetup.com/Get-Law-Links/
The group aims to provide Free Legal Information and Free Access to some experts around the legal field such as Solicitors and Barristers to give talks on pressing legal issues.

As a start, I am also organising a pure networking session tomorrow at Canon Street. There will be a few (friendly) lawyers there. Please few free to join the group and the networking event tomorrow.

  • Hi Benita

It's great to see some new faces. We spent a large part of last year organising the Mini Maker Faire (over 5,000 hackers turned up from all over the UK) and moving into our hackspace at the Rodhus on Hollingdean Road.

For 2012, we're hoping to find out which projects people are working on providing help and support to help you get things done. Thursday nights are open nights at BuildBrighton, so turn up, bring anything along you're working on, or just show your face and say hi!
