Title: Campaign For Real Democracy Co-ordinator

Originally I studied law, but quickly found myself disillusioned. So, I travelled to Africa, India, Mexico and finally Vancouver, where I took part in the successful anti-MAI protests of 1997. And I have never looked back since..!
I live in Southgate, North London with my lovely family and friends where I am working on community-led projects. My overall mission is rather ambitious: to reform the health service, make civil rights sexy, show the Mexican Zapatista to be the true leaders of the western world and. most important to render the word celebrity utterly passe. Am I behind schedule!

I think it's important that grassroots activists and the wider public team up over the question of civil rights as civil rights are for everyone. In particular I would like to show the link between human rights abuses in the UK and elsewhere and the lack of control we as individuals sometimes feel, in others words the right to self-determination.
"Maybe the civil rights project should aim to go over the civil rights situation, topic by topic so we can all learn about the state of the law together and build up a good knowledge bank, joining the dots and see where we go from there. What do others suggest? Another idea is to look closely at how the 2012 Olympics in London offers us an occasion to look more closely at the state of human rights and democracy in the UK.. "
