“a daring and great musical that combines unforgettable songs with genuinely gripping and disturbing drama” –The Daily Telegraph (London)

Enter the tantalizing world of The Kit Kat Klub in 1930s Berlin, where beguiling, self-destructive chanteuse Sally Bowles lives with no thought for tomorrow.

One of the defining musicals of all time, Cabaret intertwines social history with dazzling entertainment in new and dangerous ways. The decadence of a Weimar nightclub becomes a shattered mirror reflecting a society spiraling toward disaster with the rise of Hitler’s Nazis. Hosted with lascivious charm by the Emcee, played by Obie Award-winning Taylor Mac (PRC2 The Young Ladies Of…).

Tuesdays are community nights with $15 tickets.

Call box office[masked], Mon.-Fri. 12-6 ($1. Service Fee)

Since most people in the meetup group are in Raleigh, this would be a good opportunity to carpool.

You can meet the music director and an actress in the Cabaret production and discuss the play tomorrow night (Mon 3/18) at 7 PM in the main Durham library. The Durham-centric mixed activity meetup group is gathering at 6:45 to get good seats. Ask for their organizer, Leah, and tell her I gave you this last-minute heads-up on the event. Leah says to look for her "with a LONG Bright YELLOW and turquoise knit scarf."

The main library is 300 Roxboro Rd, about five blocks north of the Durham Freeway.

Thanks for getting this organized. I bought my ticket online. Is there any interest in meeting as a group for dinner before the show?

    February 15, 2013

    • mark h.

We would need to meet rather early, but it is possible.

I would encourage the Raleigh attendees to consider carpooling. That also provides a second option of eating with others in the carpool.

      February 17, 2013

  • Jane S.

I'm going to get my ticket today before 6pm.

    February 15, 2013

Just bought my tickets. The guy at the box office said the 4/9 show was going to be sold out, so get your tickets ASAP.

There is a parking deck (Cobb) behind the theater that is available for public parking after 5:00PM. Show up early, get your ticket at the box office and queue up for the theater doors to open -- festival seating.

    ==============
He also mentioned that the 2/19 (Raisin in the Sun) and 2/26 (Clybourne Park) community night shows had seats available.

    February 15, 2013

  • mark h.

So, let's buy our own tickets. I'm going to drop by the box office and pick up a couple of tickets.

    February 15, 2013

  • Polly

I can't commit this early mainly because of what could come up with my mother/her health situation. So I will pass. Thanks

Perhaps my memory is faulty but I would have sworn I paid $5 when I ordered by phone last time. Sorry! I would urge you, esp. if the fee is so low to have folks order their own. I have heard from organizers of other groups that they have gotten stuck holding the bag when folks have backed out of events that cost money.

I plan to attend the performance of Cabaret on April 9. Let me know if I should buy my own ticket or if you are purchasing Tickets for everyone. If you are purchasing the tickets tell me where to send you a check to cover the ticket price.. I love the Playmakers and look forward to attending. I live in Durham and will not need to carpool unless someone needs a ride from Durham

Yes, either online at Playmakers website or from box office[masked], Mon.-Fri. 12-6. There is a $5 service charge.

    February 8, 2013

    • mark h.

According to the box office, there is a $1 service fee by phone and $1.50 service fee online. Where did you see/experience the $5 service fee?

Since I'll purchase the tickets at the box office, there will be NO service fee.

      February 11, 2013

  • mark h.

the April 9th performance is about 1/3 sold out. Let's get a commitment head count by this Friday and I'll get tickets for everyone.

    February 11, 2013

  • mark h.

If we can commit to a date, I could drive over to the theater and buy tickets in advance and you could pay me back on the evening of the production.

    February 8, 2013

    • Catherine D

Just pick a deadline to commit date when you think there will still be enough tickets...for the 9th. There's a conflict on the 16th.

      February 9, 2013

    • mark h.

OK. I'll check with the Paul Green Theater box office about this. I expect that we can give people 10-14 days to commit to this event, but I'll confirm this on Monday.

      February 9, 2013

  • Polly

I would enjoy this - any of the productions are ok with me. What about March?

    February 7, 2013

    • mark h.

There is a gap in the production schedule, so nothing in March.

      February 9, 2013

  • Rose

I would be interested in going to one of these in April. I am a little out of the loop on this. Are we to buy our own tickets individually?

    February 8, 2013

    Vote for 4/9 or 4/16
