I have been involved in a variety of ways with the Crafts Center since my student days of the early 1970's. Later in life, I have been a supporter, crafts student, and instructor many times over. They are planning their 50th anniversary celebration and having a potluck on April 27th. Roger
From Their Website:
"The Crafts Center is celebrating 50 years & more! Come share your memories and pictures, help us to grow our community of makers and join us throughout this special anniversary year. We invite you to check out the Crafts Center’s new blog."
"This year the Crafts Center is preparing to celebrate 50 years in Thompson Hall, a wonderful success story with many memories worth retelling. However, the span of years leading up to the move to Thompson Hall is the least understood chapter of Crafts Center history. Did you know we actually began operation during the early 1950s as The Craft Shop located in the Erdahl-Cloyd Student Union? And, there are solid hints the Center’s roots may even go back further to the years prior to construction of NC State’s first student union."
"We invite you to join us in the effort of retelling and archiving the Crafts Center’s history by sharing your personal memories and photographs on our special anniversary blog."
"Join us in a Potluck Dinner anniversary celebration. Bring a covered dish to share. We’ll provide beverages, plates & utensils – and cake & ice cream, of course. Do you have old photos of the Crafts Center or other mementos? Bring them along to share or lend them to us for an anniversary exhibition we are planning for Fall 2014. We look forward to seeing you at the Potluck. Here’s to another 50 years!"
