CragX Beginners Climbing Class

Please note that I've changed the date to Sept 6 because everyone did not sign-up ontime and the group filled up. Drew, the manager has setup another group session for us on Sept 6.

There are four people currently signed-up (me, Rhea, Andreas, and Forest) to go and we can accommodate 6 (2 more).

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I'd like to propose a beginners climbing class at Crag X. Cost is $45 per person and includes a week of free climbing after the lesson.  This 2.5 hour course will teach you all the skills necessary to start climbing on your own. Learn how to put on your harness, tie the proper knots and safely manage the rope belay systems. The instructor will also spend some time teaching you about climbing movement and technique. By the end of the evening, you will be climbing the twisted architecture with style. Each course includes rental equipment for the lesson and a week of FREE entry to the gym so that you can engrave your new skills.

They have their regularly scheduled courses open to the public and you can sign-up for the Beginner Lesson at

http://urbancliffculture.com/booknow.html

Wear clothing that is comfortable and allows you the greatest freedom of movement. Many climbers prefer to have their knees covered as the climbing surface can be rough. Clothing appropriate for yoga works well. Gloves are not used.

A water bottle and a warm layer/fleece are a great thing to bring along too.

I'm going to sign-up for the Aug 29,[masked]:00 pm session and hope others will want to join in.

If there is enough interest, we may be able to schedule our own class (minimum of 6 with a reduced rate), but everyone would have to pool their money up-front to reserve the time.

Hi everyone, unfortunately we cannot be there! It is really sad for me, I was really looking forward to this meetup, but I hope we will organize another one soon with the ones who will fall in love with climbing!

Sorry that you can't make it, but I'm sure we'll organize another climbing meetup in the near future.

Have fun guys. If you have a group that ends up regularly climbing keep posting the events. I'll have to find a day that works for me to get my belay ticket.

I tried to book for Aug 29th online, however, only allowed to book from 9/1/13. Will try to call later. If not, I'll do it by myself on Wed, the 4th.

Hi Andreas I have to go at the gym also tomorrow so if you give me all the details I can directly ask them if it's possible to book for all of us...if it's not to late! Let me know...

Darin, when I emailed Drew to sign up he said the group would be limited to 6 as evenings are busy and it's right before the long weekend so staff are going out of town. Where do we stand with this event?

    August 23, 2013

    • Darin L

Good question. Both you and I have signed up. I sent a note to drew and let him know there would be possibly 12 of us, but he hasn't replied. It would be great if everyone would post whether they signed up or not. 12 have rsvp'd, but I don't know if they actually signed up?

I usually go to the CragX Climbing Gym three days a week: my husband and I love to climb! If it would be handy we can help with advices or whatever you need and it would be an awesome start for my first meetup! :)
    I'm totally at disposal! :)

I'd love to try this, but the 29th doesn't work for me. I'll continue to follow the conversation to see if there are others interested in a different time.

Sorry, too hard to organize a different date with others already signed up.

I think we'll just stick to plan 'A' and have everyone register on the cragx website (see link on the invite) for Aug 29. Sorry for those that can't make this session.

12 so far. Has anybody signed up through the website? If not, I propose we do a separate coffee meetup and collect money to setup our own cragx group. We only need six to reserve the separate time and reduced cost (6 for the price of five)
