The Hypnotic Experience!

*** It's a great day to experience the hypnotic effect! See you tonight! ***

UPDATE #4: There are still 5 spots left, so you may claim a spot by arriving early with exact cash. Also, there are usually 6 no-shows for this event, so you just might be able to join us. Make sure to come early with exact cash.

UPDATE #3: I spoke with the hypnotist, and we've been able to open some additional spots, get them while you can!

UPDATE #2: The early-bird price has ended and the ticket price is now $20. Looking forward to seeing you there!

UPDATE #1: There are 9 early bird spots left and the price will increase from $15 to $20 when the early bird spots are gone or before Sun. Mar. 9th (whichever comes first). To be fair to those who want to join in and are ready to make payment, I'll be removing those that haven't paid by Mon. Mar. 3rd. So make payment to *truly* lock in your spot. I hope to see you there!

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind defined by focus and concentration.

While in hypnosis, the subconscious takes the lead, making you open to positive suggestions.

I have recruited hypnotist (and comedian) Marc Russell Hausman to show us the power of hypnosis and how it can be utilized. During this 2 hour event, Marc will take volunteers through a hypnotic induction and visualization. He'll show us how we can learn the practice of self-hypnosis and incorporate it into our own lives... to lose weight, to stop smoking, to better sleep at night, to better manage and reduce stress, to enhance our careers, to improve performance in athletic training or competition, to better maintain a positive attitude... or you name it, for whatever reason. Through hypnosis, it's possible to achieve these things and more using the power of our own mind. No swinging watch or touring "act" here, this is the real deal.

We are privileged to have Marc Russell Hausman as our speaker.  He has developed his unique "Hypnotic Experience" event during the past 7 years, and he regularly performs at community festivals, fundraisers, and colleges. Most recently, he was a featured performer at a 3000 person New Year’s Eve gala. To learn more about Marc, see photos from his shows, and read testimonials from people he has hypnotized, check out his "Hypnotic Experience" blog... hypnoticfun.blogspot.com.

PLEASE NOTE THAT FOOD AND DRINKS WILL BE PROVIDED. We'll have turkey, roast beef, and ham sandwich platter and wraps to eat... and water, soda, diet soda to drink (no alcohol)!

Marc typically charges $100 for an in-person session.  We've got an early bird special for this event of $15 (the price of an entree at most restaurants)! The first 45 paid sign-ups, or those who pay before Sun. Feb. 2nd (whichever comes first) get the early bird price! After that, the ticket price will go to $20. We have a LIMITED number of spots so make sure to RSVP early and make payment to get the early bird price!

Also please know that your RSVP is not guaranteed unless we receive payment. When you pay, your online receipt is confirmation that we have received your payment.

Come join us for this fun, engaging, and informative session.  I hope to see you there!

- J.T.

Metro and Parking

The closest Metro is Gallery Place - Chinatown (Red / Yellow / Green Lines). We suggest Metro / cabbing if you can. We also recommend using wmata.com for travel planning. Don't forget to account for Metro, traffic, and parking delays. If you are driving, you will need to find street parking or a garage.

Payment Instructions (Paypal account not required)

Please follow the instructions below for making payment (if payment by smartphone doesn't work, please try your computer). Payment at the door will be permitted only should the event not sell out. Most of our events do sell out, so we recommend you secure your spot online early. If you make payment for less than the current ticketed price without prior correspondence, your RSVP will be removed.

1. Select "Yes" under "Will you attend?"

2. Enter the number of guests coming and click "Finish RSVP"

3. Click "Pay Now" at the top of the event posting near the ticket price per person

4. Verify correct dollar amount for number of people you're paying for, click "Pay Now" button

5. If you don't have a Paypal account, click "Pay with a Debit or Credit Card"

6. If you have a Paypal account, simply log in, and pay as you normally would via Paypal

Event Check-in

We will have a master list of all those that have paid. It’s not required, but I recommend printing out your payment confirmation as a backup. When you check-in, your RSVP will be listed under the name of the Paypal or credit card account used to make payment. Typically, this is your LEGAL name as shown on your driver's license. Sometimes, it may be under a company name if you set up your Paypal or credit card account that way. If you are not sure what it is, please take a moment to log into your Paypal account (it will say "Welcome, [your account name]" at the top) or your credit card account to find out. If you are RSVP'd under someone else's payment, please use that name for check-in.

Refund Policy & Ticket Resell

Since we paid in advance for this event, all sales are final unless the event is canceled or rescheduled. Similar to a concert ticket or a football game ticket, you are free to sell your ticket to someone else if you are unable to attend. I suggest posting in the comment box for the event, that you have a ticket for sale. Work out payment between yourselves, and have the seller send the organizer an email through their Meetup profile (do not comment in the comment box of the event posting) letting us know the full name and Meetup profile URL (if a member) of the person taking your spot. Thanks for understanding. =)

Special Needs

If you have any special needs (e.g. wheelchair, etc.), let us know in advance (a week or more before the event) and we will do our best to accommodate. If you let us know the day of the event, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate. Thank you for understanding and we appreciate the courtesy of a heads up!

Triggered many interesting discussions afterward w/nice folk-thanks JT! No performance, nor parlor tricks--just a generous demo & intro into the infinitely practical daily life applications of self hypnosis. I'm familiar w/it & still learned allot from Mark's easy frankness. Went under-slept/dreampt great last night! I hope all children (and adults) learn/explore self-hypnosis, meditation and other useful tools for sports, business, health, & ease.

Hi Daisy, great conversation after the hypnosis session. If it wasn't for the blizzard, I could have stayed and chatted with you and Arash for another hour. Let's talk soon!

      March 17, 2014

  • Arash

Good show, great people, and a whole bunch of hearty discussions afterwards.

Hey Arash, it was a pleasure to meet you and Daisy. I very much enjoyed our conversation afterwards and found your thoughts insightful. Thanks!

Great idea but the show lacked a performance. Would be good to have the volunteers act things out or ask them questions that show therapeutic/psychogical change. He just had them sit there without doing anything so it was rather boring. Plus the intro talk was way too long. Over an hour is not needed for explaining the key elements of hypnosis. It was a good reminder that hypnosis is a cool thing with psychological potential but the show could be a hundred times better with some demonstration rather than just talk.

Thanks for the feedback, Aliza. Your comments illustrate a challenge nearly all entertainers face: how to ensure everyone in the audience has an enjoyable time when expectations can be so different.

      March 17, 2014

    • Marc H.

I use to incorporate more entertaining visualizations in the health and wellness version of my Hypnotic Experience show to make it more of a performance. However, the consistent feedback I received was that it was inconsistent with my message about the positive visualization for meaningful life changes. I'll keep working at improving the show and will take your feedback to heart.

I appreciated Mark explaining how the hypnosis process works. It was interesting to see how hypnosis can work on some right away, yet be a slightly slower process for others. It was a good experience.

You're right on about that, Jackie. The practice of self-hypnosis truly is a personal experience. And "yes"...each person tends to be unique in their level of suggestability. It was a pleasure meeting you.

Hi everyone, I appreciate everyone coming out last night for the meet-up. And thanks (again) to JT for hosting.

I wrote a blog post this morning with my thoughts about the event, including how much I enjoyed the individual conversations afterwards. Here's a link: http://hypnoticfun.blogspot.com/2014/03/post-show-chats-when-hypnosis-gets.html

Another five star, JT! Thank you so much. And what a fantastic deal, a meal, a great presentation, and a free one-on-one session! Thanks again!!

I liked it the way it was, I didn't want a performance, I wanted the theory and how it could help in my life and I got that and I will also take him up on his one-on-one offer, there are plenty of hypnotic performances on youtube, those I think are boring, like a circus act, I didn't want that, not sure if you're implying that though, to each their own of course. Yes to vegetarian, I know we've been able to do that before in the past. I'll ask about vegan. Thank you, and see you there!

Hi Jeff, I might be interested in your ticket, but I am not sure yet, I am trying to talk a friend into coming, but meanwhile, of course, try to unload it elsewhere.

Hi everyone, I very much look forward to this event and meeting you. I'm the hypnotist and I recently worked with JT on a similar event about healthy living through positive visualization. Here's a link to an article I wrote about the event, which includes comments from people who attended.
