Harold Washington Cultural Center's Broadway in Bronzeville series transports beloved productions such as Annie and Langston Hughes' Black Nativity to its sweeping stage. Adapted from the novel by Fannie Thurst, Imitation of Life tells the tale of two women in the 1930's -- one a white widowed woman, and the other a black woman hired to be her housekeeper and their intersecting lives through the years. John Ruffin directs a talented cast as they explore pertinent issues such as race, family and female independence during the Depression in this textured, pulsating drama.
Approximate running time is three hours and two intermissions. The play starts at 5p
