Fruitvale Station - Movie Opening Night

Filmmaker Ryan Coogler makes his feature directorial debut with this drama centered on the tragic shooting of Oscar Grant (Michael B. Jordan), a vibrant 22-year-old Bay Area father who was senselessly gunned down by BART officers on New Year's Day in 2009, and whose murder sent shockwaves through the nation after being captured on camera by his fellow passengers. Octavia Spencer, Melonie Diaz, and Kevin Durand co-star. The film was produced by Forrest Whittaker and has received rave reviews after winning the Grand Jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival.THE MOVIE STARTS AT 7:20. Please plan to arrive early AND purchase your ticket early. The Landmark Century Theater Chicago has a parking structure attached to the building. Parking is $5.00 with validation from the theater for 4 hours.

I will be there by 6:30 meeting people in the lobby in the movie theater area.

Can't wait for this movie! On a side note: I'm in the barber chair when my barber bolts for the door saying he'd be right back....that was 15 minutes ago. I might rock a Gumby cut if he doesn't get back here.

I did call the theater in regards to if I should purchase my ticket early. They did mention that with a large group like ours, there is a possible discount available. His words were "a pkg of 25 tickets can cost us about $8 a person." Just a suggestion of looking into this upon arrival.

    • Kamasi

Krystal I think you'll be safe purchasing tickets at the theater.

I was in Oakland when the riots occurred because of this senseless shooting. I will never forget seeing a US city (oakland) look like 3rd world war zone. Thank you Forest for bringing awareness to this tragic event!
