The Inauguration of President Barack Obama
*NOTE* Event time is now 9:00a instead of 9:30a. This is because CNN will be broadcasting LIVE that morning from the museum and the Dusable rep wants our CBPSN group to represent Obama support in Chicago! We will be on TV wearing our Obama buttons & gear and waving our flags. So look good and be camera ready!(they are just panning the crowd, you won't have to talk on camera if you are shy).
It is only fitting that we celebrate such a historic occasion at the DuSable Museum of African American History, in Obama's hometown of Chicago! This very special day begins with the inauguration of President Barack Obama, for his second term as President of the United States of America.
As part of the DuSable Museum's morning activities for the 2013 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, they will host a live viewing of the inauguration ceremony on a large screen on the stage of their theater auditorium. Alot of our members are off work for MLK Day, hopefully many can join us! The museum opens at 9:00a, come early to line up and meet & greet before the auditorium opens at 9:30a.
The inauguration broadcast begins at 10:30a, and will end following President Obama’s inaugural address at 12:30p. We hope that you will come out and experience this incredible event with your friends from Chicago Black Professionals Social Network.
Many of us have long hoped for & worked toward this day- by attending and participating in the past two Obama Birthday Fundraiser parties in Aug. 2011 and 2012, OUR President's Day Mardi Gras Fundraiser Feb 2012(raising over $2000 total for the campaign) and our wonderful Election Night Party at the South Loop Hotel Nov. 6, 2012. Don't miss this culmination celebration!
We will meet at the museum auditorium special group side entrance at 9:00a to line up, meet & greet, and get seated together. Look for host Robin T with a Meetup sign, wearing a red sweater dress and a red, white & blue hat [masked]-7555. Doors open at 9:00a, with CBPSN being seated first- in the front rows & center!
