Grassroots Coalition Meeting

Instead of our regular monthly meeting this month we are joining forces with other local environmental groups for a grassroots Coalition organizing meeting. We will meet in the Elliott Library Room #507.  Come meet with folks from 350NYC, Chelsea/West Village for Change, Citizens Against Rockaway Pipeline, Human Impacts Institute, NYSEC's Environmental Stewardship Committee, Occupy the Pipeline, Occupy Sandy, Riverside Beloved Earth Community, Sane Energy Project, United for Action, World Can't Wait, and more.

Let's get to work!

The meeting was an excellent opportunity for me to learn about many of the enviro. advocacy groups in the NYC area (some of which I knew about previously, and others I didn't). But IMO this coalition's deliberative procedures need to be streamlined if it intends to continue meeting in the future. I suggest forming a central steering group of approximately 6-8 people that would be as representative of the entire spectrum of groups as possible, and would meet prior to the coalition's monthly meetings to establish an agenda.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
