It was informative about a variety of environmental issues. The bulk of the meeting concerned protecting water quality in New York. Attendees have a variety of backgrounds.

Well, I learned after being away from NYC for 47 years I not only have to learn more about the city, but also my knowledge of the fossil fuel industry needs a serious upgrade.

    1. It would be nice if there would be easier accessible 100% recycled paper that publishers and businesses could use (including just for copy machines). Why are not many businesses utilizing 100% recycled paper, why is recycled paper going up in price, and the process to produce recycled paper--what is the pollution problem with the process, if there is any. 2. There is at least one species of black bamboo in Asia that is harder than most hard woods and cannot be cut with a saw. So, lasers could be used for making prefab kits? What can be done to help bring more environmentally-friendly products to the construction markets...

    3. There is a list of endangered plants on the New York Natural Heritage website: www.nynhp.org Roof gardens could help protect these plants. So far, these endangered plants seem confined to a few botanical gardens and are not available for sale at superstores.

Sorry, I am involved in two actions today and it was too much. I have commitments against drones and our anti war vigil at the library. Sorry, its just too much for me in one day. But would love to know what the outcome is. I enjoyed the Saturday action and look forward to more, Marty

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
