Years ago I read The RiverKeeper, which was the start of my raised awareness around environmental crime. I became focused on water issues, and created inter-arts events that reflected that focus. I then read Eating Animals by Safran-Foer - I was unaware of the extent of agricultural business. Bill McKibben's book Eaarth, was the next earth shattering consciousness raising moment followed by Climate Coverup by James Hoggans; HOT by Mark Heartsgaard; and Fieldnotes from A Climate Catastrophe, by Elizabeth Kohlbert. I am currently reading Green Metropolis, by David Owen. I attended environmental actions directed at anti-fracking activism, Tar Sands, and climate change issues organized by 350 and other groups including Stop the Frack Attack, Food and Water Watch, Sane Energy, and some events in the Catskills. I created Climate Force in May of 2013 and produced a jazz event in Brooklyn to raise awareness; it was a fundraiser; we donated the proceeds to 350/NY.
Living in both city and country; NYC and upstate, near Woodstock. I am a jazz singer/composer/bandleader; vocal production coach; writer; producer; mother; gardener, and environmental advocate. Not necessarily that order. Go to www.katiebull.com.
