What is your Green Story?

While working in Zambia, we were working with local communities and womens groups to promote solar cookers in order to reduce deforestation, a big problem in the country and a dangerous activity for women and children. At the first demonstration, the women spent the morning making the cooker with a demonstration on how to use it. Sadly it took too long to boil the water and so the women pulled out their 3 cooking stones and set it up with brush around the site and cooked their lunch in the traditional way. More work was needed on this solar cooker which was done and re-tested more successfully two years later!

A retired international civil servant; now a peace activist involved with the Granny Peace Brigade, Women in Black, NY Against Fracking among other activities. Would like to do more on environmental issues.

What marty r. is saying about this Meetup Group

Really good convergence with others. The snow and cold made it even more special. Good job by Adam' s Trade Justice and partners.
