Total 3D experience: 3D scanners in action

Dear makers,

from your comments last Thursday I understand that it's time to push it further: 3D scanning is the next big thing!

3D Scanners

As we did with the printers, you will see them for real, covering the 3 levels:

  • Mid-range professional scanners
  • Entry level Kinect-based scanner
  • iPhone-based free 3D scanning solution

You will even have a chance to get scanned yourself or an object that you bring with you.

the craziest and most bizarre wins!

3D Softwares

Even the best in class scanners can't get a 3D printable file straight from an object. Processing the scanned file is mandatory, and you will see how to do that and with which softwares, from professional grade down to free and open source solutions.

This is a really hot topic, and with the increasing size of our community, we expect the limited number of seats to be very quickly overbooked. So be smart and book now !

And as usual:

  • guest stars talk (undisclosed yet)
  • 3D printers in action, 3D printed pieces
  • canapés, drinks and networking

Looking forward to seeing you all,

Sylvain Preumont

PS: spread the news, go social, but most important is register ASAP, we need to know well in advance how much room we need

Thanks, a very well organised and interesting meeting. Can I ask: does anyone know where I can get some head scans done in fairly short order (to be used as the basis for some design sketches for some medical headgear)? Feel free to reply on [masked]

Thank you to Sylvain and all the people who made this event possible, thank you for inviting me it was great to meet so many nice people. I am back in Berlin now I would love to hear from anyone interested in my project, feed back (good or bad) is always helpful. Here are the links www.splinch3d.com and the kickstarter http://kck.st/Z75E2z best wishes Lee Wagstaff

Thank you, it was really good talking to someone from a creative design background to see how you use it within your work. I'm into textile design and looking to see how 3D printing/scanning can be used in my future designs. loved your project and will follow its progress.

We enjoyed the event and meeting lots of new people. Lots of you talked to us about our two scanner systems and our 3D hapticated design package - if you didn't take a card, you can see more info at www.a1-tech.co.uk.

What a knowledgeable evening refreshed with nice wines?

As a Lecturer I will like to see this in schools, college and universities. iMakr got to push the education section and make sure they are all using these great tools!

Please forward me your brochure and price list for scanners and printers. I am preparing for the WorldSkills UK event now.

    God blesses!!!

    Best regards,
    Sanyaade

Well observed about the education issue. Most of 3D printers, scanners etc go into schools where the kids love them. Very motivational.

    Thank you for interesting evening.

  • Louise Ellwood

It was really fascinating, especially to someone like me who has no technical knowledge on this but coming from an art and design background. Can not wait to start my project :)

    1 · March 27

    • Sam Chau

The waiting list is in order, so when a free spot is available, the next/first person on the waiting list is automatically assigned the RSVP.

      March 28

    • Adeline

The waiting list is 100% automated process based on first in first out ;)

      March 28
