I trained and worked as a designer jeweller, became a research fellow and with a fellow founder spun out Anarkik3D to provide haptic 3D sketch/modelling software specifically for a more familiar way of working for designer makers/artists, to be able create 3D objects to 3D print and expand their practice. I use 3D printing for my own work: jewellery (furniture too) in plastics, resin, titanium, steel, bronze, paper and I hope soon in silver. I am an enthusiast and evangelist but I am not a techie. The courses/workshops and training days that I run are focused on non CAD users as our software, Cloud9, is easy to learn and use . I also use it in our introductory courses to get across a good understanding of the principles of 3D printing and designing for the technology. I live and work in Edinburgh, most courses are held here but I am willing to travel.
I consider myself somewhat senior in 3D printing field as I have designed for and used this technology since 1997 to have my work made. I prefer to use the 3D printed object as the final piece (i.e. no other complex processes such as casting), just finishing (painting, dying, gold leaf, brooch pin added, magnets as fasteners, etc). I am not a techie and do need systems that are user friendly so I can concentrate on what I do best - designing and making.
Designer Jeweller, CEO of Anarkik3D (developers of 3D sketch/modelling software for designer makers/artists, for objects to 3D print), 3D printing enthusiast and evangelist, teacher and mentor, living/working in Edinburgh!
