I'd love to get together an work on printer builds. I'm working on a Prusa I3.

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • I'd also be interested in show and tell from folks with printers up and running. There is also New England Reprap group here: https://plus.google.com/102798926840375411636/posts. They don't meet very often, but might have some members who would join this
    meetup.

You might be interested in this meetup next week, May 21, 8:30 pm at the Artisan's Asylum: http://bit.ly/3dpmeet - it's open to all. Park at 30 Dane St.'s parking lot, show up at 8 pm if you want a tour of Artisan's.

I've asked Andrew to list it as a meetup on this group, hoping he'll reply soon. Or perhaps it's as well - it's looking likely to be a large meetup as it is.

Hey everyone, I currently run a new hackerspace based out of Boston near the Sullivan Square T station. We have a basic website up at http://ideastothings.org . We currently have a 1000sq ft space set up there and are looking into starting a variety of 3d printer based projects. I would be very interested in hosting meetups for the group. Feel free to contact me at [masked]

I'd be happy to help you calibrate the printer once you are starting to print but are unhappy with the results. I have an ultimaker but I'm familiar with many of the issues. It would be fun to have a meetup for people who own or are interested in owning a 3d printer.

I still haven't printed, sadly. I have 3 kids under 5 so mostly I just haven't had a free day to get it over the finish line. Calibration, fixing issues, etc.

And thanks for the part printing offer. :-)

These reprap style printers like the Prusa or the Mendel take about 12"x18"x18" of space . Then there's the necessary tool space, an area for working on them and a computer for interfacing with the circuit boards. A basic desk layout per printer with some drawers is a little snug, but manageable. Preferably two, one for computer and 'clean' working and one for assembly .

I've moved back from 3d printing on my mendel to more CNC electronics and laser cutting at home. If someone has the facility, I'd be interested in working with others. Artists Asylum is also a good space for people to look into.

Sorry i missed everyone at the event yesterday - had some last minute things come up - interested to hear if there was further discussion

Artist Asylum requires you to demonstrate your knowledge, or take one if their classes before you can use the tools and equipment in the space. Perhaps someone with a reprap here could teach a class?

This sounds like a good idea; how much space, what type of space is needed?

My Prusa is pretty built now, but I still haven't calibrated or tuned it and started printing. I'd offer up a get together, but I don't have a great location for this (no garage and no basement).

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
