40Fires September Meetup

For the first 40Fires Meetup we will convene at the Young Foundation in Bethnal Green. As said in the invite the aim is to: to meet key potential collaborators and start practical discussions about how to work together on developing the ‘Hyrban’ – the car designed by Riversimple – further.

The members of 40 Fires will be present as will be Hugo Spowers (lead engineer of the car). We expect to have a mixture of individual engineers, representatives of university departments, students and companies involved in car development.

This meeting is an opportunity to discuss face to face how to advance the ‘open source approach’, discuss issues surrounding online collaboration and last but not least get things going.

I found it very informative. As a first meeting we are feeling our way - different people have interest in different aspects of the project, but I thought it was well organised and that people were pleased they had come.

Learned a lot about the Hybran and even began to grasp the concept of "Open Source". Enjoyed the meeting and the few people we met. Enjoyed getting to grips with the philosophy underlying Riversimple and 40 Fires and shall be keen to see it followed through. Remain sceptics about its viability though as philosophies tend to gather philosophers rather than competitors.

Meeting was very informative and open with a diverse range of input.
Felt it was a good presentation and overview of the technology sample vehicle. The enthusiasm and commitment of the existing team was very evident. From this meeting there will be alot of feedback and questions and the next few phases will be important. It is critical that the 'team' have patience and accept that this will be a journey not a race event!
Personally - really enjoyed the session and look forward to the next steps.

A good first meeting for a rather experimental forum.
Clearly future meetings will need a little more structure and clarity of objectives/goals/agenda legislated and advised to delegates in advance if we are really to achive anything. The cost/time used for attendance for most delegates is not nothing for anyone, and quite considerable for some, so whilst last night was an excellent start, 40fires are going to have to organise a little more to ensure the experience is valuable for all.

Fascinating and stimulating. An interestingly diverse group of people coming together for a common aim. I'm looking forward to getting more involved.
