This was my first ride with the group and I must say that I had a great time! Push Mountain Road is literally in my "back yard" and I can ride it whenever I want but it's not often that I get to share the experience with such a great group of riders as this.

What a fantastic time we had. From riding push mountain to hanging out Saturday night and Sunday and the ride back to MO. We had soo much fun and loved meeting each and everyone this weekend! Can hardly wait to get together again. Kudos to Greg for organizing the ride and taking the lead and for Rob for watching our back. We are going to have a blast this spring thru fall I predict it ! ;) Ride safe everyone!

    Awesome weekend...thanks to everyone...my miles 437.

Those that weathered the cold temps Sat morning were treated to one fabulous ride up The Push, if Keith can get his video up check out that beautiful sky. By the time we had finished lunch (thanks to Randy for leading us down from Yellville and showing us where to picnic) the temps were perfect...What a Day, What a Road.

We split into two groups after lunch with the going home group led by Randy leaving first and the staying overnight group following a few minutes after.

The overnight crew made their way to Anglers and Sylamore , got their accommodations worked out and met for dinner at 7:00, that was pure fun, can't wait to do it again.

Sunday we got rolling around 10, got gas and then a late breakfast. Sue explain to me what a Med/Well egg was, so I ordered 2 but only one of them passed the Sue test. :(

The ride home up 14 to the ferry and up 125 to Sparta...Fantastic...What a Great Weekend.

    Thanks Everyone
    PEACE,

    Gregg

My brother and I definitely enjoyed the first part of this meetup. We were almost late getting to Casey's but everyone was super patient and allowed us to fuel and go to the rest room. Then we traveled without a hitch for approximately 18 miles and then my brother Dave's bike broke down. It turned out to be a bad connection on the battery. We were super thankful to Rob and Gary for stopping and making sure we were ok. So from this point on we had to drop out. But looking very forward to next time and a better ride for us.

Well I am home and OK so that is bright side of the day but the bike is in repair shop. Almost made it but bike started to vibrate bad 1/2 mile past our starting point... and then I knew it was not tire. By the fact that it would not go into any gear including neutral then It is at least U-Joint or worse ??? Will know more Tues when mechanic looks it over :-(

The rain is gone and as soon as the sun comes up the roads will dry quickly. It's 40 here in northern Arkansas at 6:30am and will warm up into the 60s this afternoon. That's cooler than I like but not intolerable and if we get some sunshine it will seem warmer than it really is. Just dress in layers and today will be a great day to ride.

@Diana; Don't worry, those that are staying will get together after lunch and separate from those that are not staying and work out how we will be spending our Sun (best to wait and see who we have before making plans). There's no reason not to go ahead on Sat and ride up and over The Push across the White river and then turn South on Hwy 5 to our over-nite lodgings.

I am heading down on Friday with the Airsteam, Regina will ride down with you all.
We will be staying Saturday night at the Sylamore Creek Campgrounds just north of Mountain View They have campsites, RV sites and cabins. Phone number is[masked]-4223. I forgot to ask how much it costs to camp there. It is a nice place, good wifi, hot showers and level spots. Located at the junction of HWY 5 and HWY 14 Arkansas. Across the highway is Anglers Inn, a really good eating place, if you want alcohol you have to join the club but it is free to join. There are also rooms available at Anglers White River Resort

Across the river is Sylamore Lodges. Mountain View is five miles south. http://www.sylamorecreek.com/
    http://www.anglerswhiteriver.com/

Regina and I have stayed at Sylamore Creek and it is wonderful. The Angler's Inn has good food and good atmosphere. We like both these places.

This is for those who are returning on Saturday.
The no-frills route from Ozark to Yellville to ride Push Mountain Road then back to Yellville and back to Ozark is 265 miles. (most odometers are “off” and you’ll likely see close to 300 on yours by the end of the day)
If you could get on your bike and ride non-stop it would take you about 5 hours and 20 minutes.
Of course you can’t ride non-stop, you have to stop twice for gas and once to eat. It’s the stops that are the real time-killers and every minute saved will be welcome later in the day when the sun is sinking low.

    1 · March 25, 2014

    • Randy W

I’ll assume you’d like to get back to Ozark by 6:30pm in order to be home before dark which will occur around 7:30. If you KSU in Ozark at 9:00am and have a ride-time of 5 hours and 20 minutes you are left with about 4 hours to spend on stops. A large group moves at a slower pace than a solo rider so I’d reduce this to 3 hours. 3 hours is not much time when you spread it over a full day in the wind.
By the way…if you take 5 and 160 on the return it’s 261 miles total. It saves you 4 miles but it will cost you time (and hassle) due to Mountain Home traffic.

      March 25, 2014

    • Randy W

The Subway in Yellville is expecting you and will have two people making sandwiches. You could order ahead if you want [masked]) but keep in mind that if they make it too far ahead of time it may not be all that fresh when you eat it an hour later.
There are 6 pumps at this stop and additional parking behind Subway.
There is only one restroom…ladies first.
I think that we should all meet in the Harp’s parking lot after getting gas. A bigger parking lot.
As Greg has said, Harp’s has fried chicken, which makes fine picnic food.
